Athletic awards presented at an awards dance The CHSS Annual Awards Banquet was not held this year due to a lack of funds in the Student Council Finances. Instead, an awards dance was held in the school cafeteria June 10. Only athletic awards were presented in the program conducted by Mr. Clynick. Most coaches and their wives were on hand to take part in the program along with photographer Mr. Jack Hunt. Next meeting planned for Sept. 8 Twenty-five ladies met for their June meeting June 18 in the Ladies Parlour with Mrs. Lorne Jervis in charge of the worship service and program. Her theme was "Friendship" and "Discipleship." Two old familiar hymns were sung, "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" and "Take Time To Be Holy," Mrs. Bond read scripture and Mrs. Armstrong led the ladies in the Lord's Prayer followed by responses in unison. Mrs. Hearn read a letter of Wesley Willis held afternoon garden party Mrs. Prank Vingland opened her home to the ladies of Wesley-Willis Church on June 24 for a lovely garden party and afternoon tea. Mrs. Oeo, Beattie, president of the HCW, weleomed the ladies at the door, They then visited Mrs. Fingland's garden, and enjoyed the colourful and fragrant roses and flowers. It was reported the group now has 38 members. There were 20 home calls and 18 hospital calls made since last month on shut-ins and the sick. Mrs. Howes looks after the Birthday Box. No meetings will be held during, July and August. The first meeting in September will be the overall meeting September 8 at 8 p.m. Further plans were made for the tea June 24 at Mrs. Fingland's home. All ladies are invited to be present and as many shut-ins as possible try to come. Tea was served by Mrs. Jervis' group.
