Barry Mutrie.scored three runs. Laurie Colquhoun hit the first home run in the new park, a 330 ft. blast over the left field fence. It came with two men on base and gave the Colts a 5-1 lead, Ed Daer made his record 2-1 with a well-pitched game. He struck out 12 Dashwood batters and allowed only five scattered hits, Pete Ravelle scored in the second on John Hayter's double. Ravelle was safe on Mutrie's throwing error, one of three the shortstop made on throws to first baseman Brad Dutot. Later in the game, however, he came up with two great plays. Daer was in trouble in the second after two errors 'and Hayter's double loaded the bases, but Jim O'rouke struck out to end the inning. Hayter tagged a double and two singles in four times at bat for Dashwood. Ed 'Daer cracked his fourth homer of the year in the third and Cam MacDonald ideked .up his first in the fourth, bath two-run blasts. Clinton scored two in the first and again in the third, added three in the fourth and finished off with one in the seventh. Mitchell broke out for three runs in the eighth. MacDonald started the game as pitcher allowing only seven batters to reach first base in seven innings, all on walks. He struck out five. He was relieved in the seventh by Ted Tisdale. Daer took over in the eighth and struck out four of the six batters he faced. The girls beat Brodhagen 26.17 at Clinton last Thursday. In an earlier game they had surrendered a 13-12 lead in the seventh when Tavistock scored four runs on two errors to gain a 16-13 win. Sally Walden, Cindy Colquhoun and Deannie Strong each hit home runs. Saturday the girls defeated Listowel in Listowel by a 22.8 count. Sandra Fremlin and Dianne Cunningham shared the pitching duties. Clinton scored four in the first when the first four batters scored. They added three in the second, six in the third, two in the fourth, four in the fifth and three in the seventh. The sixth was their only scoreless inning, Sandra Fremlin led the girls' 22 hit attack with four singles. Brucefield started the scoring in the first inning when they collected seven runs. Betty Dalrymple reached base safely 'on an error. This was followed by Joyce Ferguson with a double, Sandra Graham with a homer, Eleanor Shiels with a double and Lea DeJong with a triple. Joyce Carter was walked ' and Jo—Ann Aldwinckle singled to right field. Brucefield collected three more runs in each of the next three innings with Joyce Ferguson colletting two hits, Betty Dalrymple, Eleanor Shiels and Janet Oraham each adding one. They ended the scoring in the fifth with hits by Etobicoke hosts first Winter Games in Dec. The first_ ,Ontario Winter featuring athletes from across the provinee; will be held in Etobicoke in December, Premier John Robarts • announced last week. The Games will be organized and run by the Ontario Department of Education's youth and recreation branch. ' Nearly 1,000' young athletes will compete in 16 events during the three-day meet scheduled for December 28-29-30. The competitions will decide the make-up of, the Ontario team to the Canada Winter Games in Saskatoon six weeks later. Ontario Games events are: ,badthiptory, basketball, ,b:oxing,' curling, fencing, gymnastics, hockey, judo, figure and speed skating, skiing, synchronized swimming, table tennis, volley ball, weightlifting and wrestling. The events will be held in 17 Etobicoke secondary schools and two arenas: the Albion Community Centre and Etobicoke's Centennial Park. Representatives to the Ontario Games will be decided by a series of regional competitions to be held from now to November. Midgets win doubleheader CLINTON 11 — ZURICH 2 Steve Switzer rebounded from a poor start in the first inning to hold • Zurich to only three hits the rest of the way. Going all the way Switzer struck out 12 and walked seven. At bat Steve also excelled with four singles in four trips to the plate. Clinton picked up 14 hits running the score from 5-2 to 9-2 in the fourth inning on five straight hits. Scoring for Clinton were Danny Colquhoun, Ron Graham and Neil Mustard with two each and Wayne Pollock, Bill Collins. 'Daryl Haugh and Bob Falconer had one each. CLINTON 28 — GODERICH 8 Everyone scored in the lopsided game in the night-cap, a 28.8 rout of Goderich. Neil Mustard, Brian Langille and Ron Graham each took a try at pitching. The big bat for Clinton was Steve Switzer's with two triples and two singles. Danny Colquhoun had three singles, Zeke Fremlin four singles and Mike McNichol contributed a triple. Separate schools compete in track and field meet Three area separate schools competed in a track and field meet held at Central Huron Secondary School, Clinton on Monday. Exeter pulled out on top of the meet with 84 points with St. Joseph second with 62 and Clinton's St Joseph's school third with 33. Although their school finished third, several Clinton athletes turned in outstanding efforts.
