Colts humiliated the Mitchell
team in Mitchell on Sunday
evening with a 23.5 score,
Doc Miller connected for his
first homer of the season in the
fourth to run the score to 4-0, In
the fifth Ed Daer, replacing
Butch Fleet in the lineup, lead
off the inning with a tremendous
home run over the centre field
fence, It was the first of three
such blasts as Daer went five for
five at bat including , three
homers, a double that went
through, the fence and a single.
• Pickett pitched for five
innings giving up one hit, a
homerun in the fifth to Don
Vipond. Brad Dutot came on in
the sixth and gave up five
singles, allowing four runs.

Thorndale proved a thorn in.
Clinton Colts side as they
defeated the locals for the
second time in a young season
last Thursday, this time 10-2.
Clinton scored a run in the
first inning but then saw
Thorndale explode for three in
the second and add to the total
in every inning but the fifth and
seventh. Winning pitcher was B.
Byers, losing pitcher, Cam
MacDonald. Don Bartliff
relieved MacDonald in the
fourth and allowed two runs.

at CFB
Seven public schools from the
Central Huron area took part in
a track and field meet at
Canadian Forces Base Clinton on
Tuesday. •
Goderich took first place in
the' competition with 121 points.
Close behind was Hullett Central
with1107., Holmesville school was
third with 46, Clinton fourth
With '43, Huron Centennial at
Brucefield had 37, Air Marshal
Hugh Campbell school of
Adastral Park had 26 for sixth
and Seaforth had 24 for seventh
Place.
Hullett dominated the junior
events. Susan Tyndall won the
high jump, long jump, 50 yd.
and 100 yd dashes and placed
third in the only other event, the
tripple jump, won by team mate
Patsy Anderson who 'also placed
in the top three in all events but
the high jump. Miss Tyndall won
the championship.
Phil Arthur scored wins in the
long jump, and triple jump for
Hullett. •He : tied for the junior
boys championship with Gary
Tebutt of Holmesville.
Teresa Steegstra of
Holmesville won the
intermediate girls crown. Robert
Hughes of Goderich won the
boys division.
Janet East of Hullett was the
senior girls winner placing in the
top three in all but the high
jump. .
Wayne Sheardown won the
boys championship. in senior
competition winning four events
and placing third to two team
mates in the other.
The Clinton Ponies won their
first game of the season by
battering the Goderich Allstars
14-4.
The Ponies' pitching job was
handled by four hurlers, all of
whom showed well. a Cook, G.
Butler, M. Nicholson, D.
Counter, N. Colquhoun, D.
Campbell and D. Bartliff had
hits. Bartliff drove in four runs
while Cook drove in three.
The Ponies will play Goderich
again on Monday, June 22 at the
public school. Time of the game
is 6:30 p.m.
