Poor Marvin. Muchpot didn't
know what he was missing.
Marvin went along for years
on end living in blissful
ignorance. Every ,morning he got
up, had breakfast, kissed his
wife, drove the kids to school
and got to work on time — well
usually anyway. At night he
came home and relaxed, read the
paper and ate supper. He
enjoyed being surrounded by his
family and although he enjoyed
his job, he spent as much time at
home as he could.
Then one night after a long
evening of relaxing in the living
room while the television blared
away in one corner he
discovered what he 'had been
missing and his life was never
again the same. He wasn't really
watching the set but after the
kids had gone to bed and he
finished his evening paper he
began watching just for
something to do.
It took just three hours, ten
and one-half minutes to make
Marvin realize he had been
wasting his life. First he realized
that his small, foreign,
economical car was just not right
for him. How could he not have
seen before now that the tiger
buried deep inside him was just
waiting to be let free behind the
shiny, new, 22-foot-long, 585
horsepower, Sex-mobile?
Poor man. Then he learned he
was using the wrong toothpaste
and underarm deoderant and
wasn't even using a mouthwash
at all. He hardly had enough hair
on his shiny dome to use the
marvellous Slick-o hair cream
that would have had all those
beautiful young things in
bathing suits hanging on his
shoulder sighing how glad they
were that he had "come back."
Next he learned that he was
missing out even on his
education by watching that drab
black and white television
instead of a wide-screen colour
set. How had he ever gotten
along all these years without
one?
That was the final blow. He
realized that he just was not'
sexy in a sexy world. First
Marvin became depressed, then
The June meeting of
Tuckersmith Unit 1, The
Friendly Unit, was held at the
home of Mrs. George Henderson.
The roll call — a vegetable by the
name of your initials was
answered by 23 members and
one visitor.
Mrs. Berry and Mrs. W. Haugh
were in charge of the devotion.
Mrs. Berry opened the meeting
with a welcome to all and
thanked Mrs, Henderson for the
use of her home. The Doxology
was sung followed by the Lord's
Prayer in unison. Mrs. Haugh
gave a very fine paper on the
ways and life of Indians.
Mrs. George Henderson and
Mrs. Cliff Henderson sang two
duets. This part of the meeting
closed with singing "Will Your
Anchor Held You In The Storms
Of Life".
This being the last meeting

AhgrY. He .tossed and turned all
night. Then, in the morning, the
truth came to idiP. Of course his
situation wasn't terminal, .All
dinse .ads had promised he eould
change, That's just 'what he'd .do,
So that day on his lunch-hour,
Marvin went out and mortgaged
his house to the hilt and bought
the big cart, complete _with such
44i-final features as stereo music
coming from under the 'rigor
carpeting, bidlet-pkoof glass and'
a miniature bar with 58 kinds of
liquor in the glove cempartment.
He even talked himself into
using the bar though he'd never
liked the taste of alcohol. Still,
he was a swinger now and
anyone who watched the ads
knew that all swingers drank
constantly.
Next he got a new 33-inch
colour TV on which he watched
the late news every night. Then .a
taupe so he could use Slick-o
hair cream. He had his teeth
straightened, wore a girdle to
pull in his sagging tummy, let his
sideburns grow, cultivated a
mustache, bought himself a suit
with hell-bottomed pants and
completed the ensemble with
pink shirt and purple tie.
It wasn't long though, before
Marvin began to feel restless. It
culminated one morning when
he took a good look at his wife
as she served him his morning
coffee and breakfast — her
curlers sprouting in all directions
like a drunken cactus bush, a
sloppy nightgown that was
about as sexy as an old blanket,
and slippers so beat up they
looked like they had been run
over by a herd of elephants. This
wasn't what the ads had
promised.
It took him just five minutes
to reach his decision. That day
he quit his job, started divorce
proceedings, packed his bags and
moved to the city where he took
a bachelor pad.
' His last alimony cheque was
accompanied by a post card
from the French Riviera where
he says he is making a good
living as a gigalo—at 43 years of
age.

until Sept. Mrs Berry closed with
the following message. "May
The Lord watch over us while
we are absent from each other,"
The President Mrs. Paterson
chaired the business part of the
meeting and reminded the group
of the ham and strawberry
supper to be held on June 24. A
committee was appointed to
assist with the vacation school in
July. Seven and a half dollars
were raised in the "five cents for
the number of shoes you use",
venture. Collection was taken
and dedicated.
A picnic is to be held at the
Church in the near future. Mrs.
Peterson closed the meeting with
prayer. The hostess and her
assistants, Mrs. Rogerson, Mrs.
Ery Sellery. Mrs. Wailers and
Mrs. Stuart served ice cream and
cake.
