Sheep Club
annual dinner
The Huron County 4-H Sheep
Club met Friday at the farm of
Ross Lovett, R.R. 1,
Londesboro for its annual family
night and lamb supper.
Between 75 and 80 people
attended the meeting enjoying
the lamb on a bun supper. The
meal followed the final meeting
of the year for the members of
the club which will hold its
achievement day at the Clinton
Spring Fair this weekend. The
members will show a ewe and
lamb or lambs and fleece at the
fair or present a exhibit in the
area covering some phase of the
sheep industry.
The members judged a class of
ewes, looking for the best
animals on which to build a
producing flock. The grading of
the animals was done by Don
Stevenson, Provincial Sheep
Specialist, who also spoke at the
riti#,A*.;L:L Also present, was Dick
Etherington of Hensall who is
first vice-president of the
Ontario sheep Breeders and
Producers association.
The 4-H sheep club is unique
in that it starts around Christmas
each year and finishes in June.

United Church Anniversary
services Sunday May 81 was
Rev. Robert passmore
S.T.M., of Owen Sound, a
former Hensall boy who
delivered inspiring and
challenging messages at both
morning and evening services,
with large congregations in
attendance and the church
lovely with early summer
flowers.
Special music under the
direction of IVIrs. John
Turkheirn, organist, was
rendered by the senior and
junior choirs, assisted by a male
quartette from the Huronia Male
Chorus from Exeter, who sang
several selections, and trumpet
duets by Mrs. Berne McKinley
and Stephen Homer. At the
conclusion of the evening service
the U.C.W. served refreshments.
Rev. R.F. Currie took the
services at Owen Sound, Mrs.
Currie and Carmen accompanied
him.
Donald MacKinnon Jr., 18, of
Alvinston, was chosen Cadet of
the year for the 2,450 Cadet
Corps. Don has been
instrumental in organizing the
Alvinston Unit. He is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Donald MacKinnon
Sr. of Alvinston, and grandson
of Mrs. Janet MacKinnon of
Hensall. Don was awarded a
trophy.

Mr. Floyd McAsh of Hamilton
spent the weekend at the home
of his parents Mr. and Mrs. J. T.
McAsh.
The United Church Women
will hold their June meeting on
Thursday evening of this week.
The re-alignment committee
of the Brucefield, Kippen,
Varna, Goshin and Bayfield
United Churches met in Goshen
Church last, Monday evening. Mr.
John Si'ertsema of Bayfield was
elected Chairman. The
Committee will meet again in
September.
Plans are being made to hold
the annual Vacation Bible school
early in July in the United
Church.

birthday PundaY, May 31,
Mrs, Myrtle McLean is a
patient in Victoria Hospital,
Tzridon. Mrs. Mckenn had the
misfortune to slip and fall in her
home, fracturing her leg. She
was taken to hospital by West
Lake Ambulance Service,
Mrs. Robert A. • Moir, of
London; 'a recent bride, 'and the
Vann& Jean Doupe, was
hnnoered with a miscellaneous
shower held at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Harry Moir, Hensall,
Friday evening May 29, The
home was beautifully decorated
in pink and white motif. The
presentation address to the guest
of honor was read by Mrs. Harry
Moir with the presentation of
many lovely gifts. Contests were
enjoyed and lunch served.
The bride is employed as a
R.N.A. at Victoria Hospital.

Mrs. Gordon Troyer is a
patient in Victoria Hospital,
London, where she will undergo
surgery. '
The Sacrament of the Lord's
Supper will be celebrated June
7th at it A.M. in Hensall'United
Church.
BROWNIES FLY BY
ROCKET INTO GUIDES
Amid a galaxy of stars, four
Brownies travelled from
Brownies to Guides in a rocket
ship, while one Brownie
travelled by flying saucer and
space walk. This modern means
of travel was completed by
Brenda Pepper, Vaila Tait,
Brenda Clement, Linda Elder
and Karina Melanson when they
flew to Guides in a novel space
age ceremony.
Brownies receiving interest
badges were: Brenda Pepper,
Minstrel and House Orderly;
Nancy McCurdy, Collector;
Barbara McCurdy, Collector;
Brenda Clement, Collector; and
Shelley Wareing, Toymaker.
Captain Jean Turner
presented badges to the
following guides: Patti Van
Wieren, Aileen Klungel and Jill
Drysdale who also earned her
All-Round Cord.
The Brownies and Guides
were conducted in a camp.'fire
by Gail Travers. A lunch was
served by the Local AssOciation
to the many Mothers, Guides
and Brownies present. This
concludes Brownie activities
until September.

On Wednesday evening, May
27, the Explorer Girls held their
Mother and Daughter Banquet
with an attendance of 60. After
the dinner the mothers were
shown the work and crafts
whiCh the girls had done during
the year.
The program consisted of
recitations, plays, piano and
vocal solos and ballet dancing by
three of Mrs. Zablocki's
students. At the conclusion of
the program the girls formed a
choir and sang several mission
songs. Mrs. Don Symons
accompanied the girls at the
piano.
During -the Graduation
Ceremony 11 girls graduated
from the group. They were Kim
Colquhoun, Wendy Gibbings,
eathy Pickard, Joyce
Leppington, Sheila Dalgleisch,
Michele Flowers, Nancy Castle,
Shelley Stanley, Debbie Daer,
Ruth Colclough and Janet
Wonfor. Mr. Wonfor was guest
speaker for the evening.
The banquet was in charge of
the leaders, Miss Johnson, Mrs.
Irwin, Mrs. Howse, Mrs. Moir
and helpers Julie Howse and
Patsy Cook.
