The Brucefield Bombers, last
year's league champions, are
once again entered in the Huron
Ladies Softball League. They
saw their firgt action against the
Exeter Greys in an exhibition
game on Thursday night when
they defeated the Greys 6-0.

The executive of the Clinton
Colts baseball club announced
this week the appointment of
two former players, Jim
Livermore and Ron MacKay, as
the club's coaches for the year.
Livermore, a student at
Western University, and McKay,
principal of Hullet Township
Public School, played on the
intermediate team which last
year reached the All-Ontario
Finals. Both players played their
minor baseball in Clinton.
Livermore was on the Clinton
team which won the provincial
Midget Championship in 1964, a
club coached by "Fergie"
McKay.
New prospects working out
with the team are pitchers Cam
McDonald and Ted Tisdale.
Returning to the lineup are
former minor league players Bob
Batkins and Frank Ladd. Out for
his first year of baseball is a
Clinton Colt hockey player, Ken
Deer.
Coach Jim Livermore has
hopes that Deep can become a
Manager Vi Peterson and
coach Kay Sharp attended the
convener's meeting in
Brodhagen, Monday evening to
draw-up the schedule for
Juvenile girls softball.
The Clinton entry will play a
game schedule, five at home and
five away. Opposition will
include Tavistock, Moorefield,
Brodhagen, Listowel and
Harriston.
Legion fields
Junior squad
For the first time in several
years, Clinton will have a
baseball team in Junior
competition.
Sponsored by the Canadian
Legion and coached by Russ
Archer, the team is slated for its
first exhibition contest this
Sunday in Woodstock at 4 p.m.
Coach Archer reports the
team should be strong with
several of the members of the
Intermediates still having Junior
eligibility. Although the
schedule is not drawn up as yet,
the team expected to play in a
"B" loop with New Hamburg,
Listowel, Mitchell and St. Marys.
The "B" grouping would
allow the team to pick up
players from surrounding towns
such as Bayfield and Seaforth.
The club will hold a workout
tonight (Thursday) at the Public
School , and any interested
p ayers are asked to turn out.

junior and senior ball in Galt. A
university student, he is
presently working at Point
Farms park for the Ontario

Forests.
Since the newly-renovated
diamond is not ready for
workouts, the Colts plan to
practice at CFB Clinton. They
have three games away from
home next week before opening
at home on Tuesday, June 9.
The team's new uniforms
should arrive within the next
week.

Cam MacDonald, Archie Pickett,
Ted Tisdale and Doug Riley,

Expos-Reds genie saw only 9
runs, Then both teams exploded
in the final two innings with the
Expos scoring 11, runs,
outlasting.the Reds 1E43.
The last innings saw both
team's pitchers give up five
walks. B. Welch, D. Clynick, T.
Jewson, B. Kempston and V.
Falkner all had hits, leading the
Expos.
M. Nicholson and P. Priestae
each had two hits for the Reds.

In the first game of a double
header, Thursday,. the Mets led
by the pitching and hitting of S,
Cook, bombed the Dodgers
12-3.
Cook struck out 14„of the 15
outs allowing only 3 hits and
walking two. He also had three
singles driving in four- runs. J,
McMahon and P, Philips also had
singles for the Mets. Merlin
White spoiled Cook's no hit
game by getting two singles and
drove in a run. S. Steep got the
other hit for the Dodgers.

In the second game the Expos
took over first place by
trimming the Fireballs 8-5 on
the steady pitching of D.
Bartliff.
D, Clynick led the Expos
with a perfect day at bat, hitting
four for four.
G. Butler, P. Garrow and N.

the Fireballs. G. Butler and D.
Bartliff each struck out eight
rival batters.
DODGERS 8-REDS 6
The Dodgers edged the
winless Reds 8-6 Friday night.
The Dodgers took a 4-0 lead
after the first inning and held on
to win., R. McAdam, pitching
for the first time, held the Reds
to six hits. B. Irwin, D.
Schoenhals, S. Steep and R.
McAdam led the Dodger attack
with hits while D. Campbell and
G. Holmes led the Reds with
two hits each.
