HomeMy WebLinkAboutClinton News-Record, 1970-05-21, Page 5TOPPING OFF THE HEAVY WATER TOWERS A workman, some 330' above ground on a heavy water tower awaits the arrival of a 47 ton top-head (shaped like a nose cone), as it is lifted into position. The top-heads are completed on three of four towers which make up a part of the enriching section on Unit 1 of the Bruce Heavy Water Plant being built for Atomic Energy of Canada Limited, by the Lummus Company of Canada Limited. The May meeting of the Tuckeramith V.0 W. of the Brucefield United -Church, was held at the .home of Mrs. Mass Chapman, on Monday evening with an attendance of 21 and one visitor, Mrs, E, MOW, Of Sault Ste, Marie. Mrs, Frvin. Sellery and Mrs. Ham were in charge. Mrs. i-lam opened the meeting with a PPM, Mother. A hymn was sung With Mrs, G. Henderson at the Organ. Mrs. Ham read a chapter from the bible, Mrs. Sellery read a poem. The offering was received by Mrs. Ham and dedicated by Mrs. Sellery„ Roll call was answered by the name of a historical woman and why. The devotion was given by all members taking part for two minutes, This part of the meeting closed with the Lords prayer in unison. The President Mrs. Paterson chaired the business part of the meeting. Mrs. J, McNaughton gave the secretary's report and Mrs. Berry the treasurers report. A silent auction sale took place where $25 was raised. The money raising project for the June meeting will be five cents for every pair of shoes you wear. The June meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Geo. Henderson, Visitors day will be held on June 2, when Kippen and Hensel' units and Bayfield, will be our guests. The ladies are asked to bring good used clothing to the Church to be sent to the rescue mission in London. The meeting closed with prayer. Mrs. Chapman and her committee, Mrs. S, Rose, .Mrs. J. Broadfoot and Mrs. Paterson served refreshments. Mrs. Chapman was thanked for the use of her home. Mrs. W. Paterson, Mrs. J. Broadfoot, Mrs. R. Taylor and Mrs. L. Eyre attended the tulip festival in Michigan, last week. Mrs. Ethel Moore, Sault Ste. Marie, visited with her cousins, Mrs. W. Haugh and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Jas. McNaughton. Bev, Clayton Ileckendorri who has been with this charge for two years is retiring and expects to reside in Kitchener. Members of the cheerio club entertained the senior citizens and bachelors of the village on Wednesday evening of last week at the home of Mrs, Livingstone. Seven tables of cards were in play. Mrs. John Armstrong was high lady; Mrs. Wilmer Howalt, low; Bill Manning, high man; Robt. Watson, low; Mrs. Ed Youngblut held the lucky chair and Mrs. Gourley had the closest birthday to the date selected, Mr, John Armstrong thanked the ladies for an enjoyable evening and Mrs. Livingstone for the of her home, The Community wishes to extend a Welcome to Mr, and Mrs. John Riley and Carmen who hays recently moved to the village. Mr. Riley for the past months has been renovating the home and• is now fairly well settled. The same welcome goes to Mr. and Mrs, Alex, Riley and family who moved this week into the former residence of Mrs. Robt.
