Ray 'Machines, district commissioner, presented Scout John Ingram with his Queen Scoot badge,
one of the last to be awarded anywhere. Seen in the background is Deep Sea Scout Wilf

Clinton couple celebrate .50th
Fifty years ago Monday, May
, Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred
lclough were married in
ronto.
Monday they were honored

The couple moved to Clinton
where they settled on Wilfred's
farm on the eleventh concession
of Goderich Township where
they raised three children, one
daughter Daphne, Mrs. Harold
Johnstone of Clinton, and two
sons, Ivan and Donald, both still
farming on ,the eleventh
concession.
Mrs. Colelough has been very
active in community affairs. She
attended St. James Church,
Middleton where she taught
Sunday School for 10 years. She
was president of . the Women's
anniversary
Auxiliary at the church many
times.
During the war, she was
president of the Red Cross for
Goderich Township and since
leaving the farm she became
president of the Clinton
Women's Institute for six years,
District President for Huron
West for more than two years, a
full-fledged L.O.B.A, member
and a founder of the Clintonian
Club Mary Hastings, 12 years
ago. She also loves travelling.
On Sunday members of the
family held a reunion and dinner
in the Anglican Parish Hall with
three generations present.

On Wednesday evening, May
6, the members of the SS No. 4
Community Club met at the
Crown Lanes. Several proved
their ability to, get strikes and
spares while others didn't do too
well or too poorly in fact for a
once-a-year, fun evening.
All returned to the home of
Ada Tebbutt for the May
meeting.
Phyllis Thompson led the
members in repeating the creed
and the Lord's Prayer.
Marilyn Forbes read the
minutes of the last meeting and
Millie Lobb read the treasurer's
Report.
Roll Call was answered by 13
members with flower slips
which were exchanged.
Members decided the Wig
Demonstration which was held
April 29 was a big success and
worth the work and effort
required for such a project.
The June meeting will be held
at Edith Tebbutt's in the evening
of June 3rd. RoIl Call will be
recipes for Alison.
The meeting was closed with
the Mizpah Benediction,
Harriett Tyndall and Lula
Merrill assisted Ada with the
lunch which was a surprise
birthday cake with candles, for
Phyllis Thompson,
On Sunday, Mother's Day,
Lana Jones, daughter of Mr. and'
Mrs. Alvin Jones was baptized.
Guests at her home were her
great-grandparents, Mr. John
Gordon and Mr. and Mrs. David
Papple all of Seaforth; her
grandparents Mr. and Mrs.
Morgan Jones of Londesboro
and Mr, and Mrs. G. E. ?apple of
Christian Family Sunday was
observed in the Baptist Sunday
School on May the 10, with
parents attending as well as
pupils.
A time of singing was enjoyed
while carnations made by the
Sunday School were pinned on
all present.
A story was told by the
Superintendent, Mrs. M. Lobb,
assisted by David Beer, Garry
Taylor, and Jimmy Archer. The
Primary, Beginner and Nursery
Seaforth; her aunts. uncles. and
cousins. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Snell
and family, Mr. and Mrs. Larry
Jones and family, Mr. and Mrs.
Ken Moore and family, and Mr.
Ken Papple of Kitchener. Mr.
and Mrs. William Fishback and
David of New Hamburg were
also present.
Miss Elizabeth Thompson and
Miss Lois Merrill are attending
the University of Guelph since
graduating-from C.H.S.S.
classes sang "Praise Him,, all ye
little children" as a rhythm band
number and "My hands I give to
Jesus" as a motion song. The
scripture lesson was read by
Sharon Dupee and Darlene Yule
led in prayer.
The hymn "I would be true"
was sung. After a short prayer,
metal rulers printed with
information from the Bible were
presented to each pupil. The
parents visited the classes while
they were in session.
