With months of rehearsals
already behind them, the
members of the cast of The
Pirates of Penzance are entering
the final hectic month • before
the production debuts May 27
for a four-night rud.
This is the second production
of a Gilbert and Sullivan
operetta at the Central Huron
Secondary School to be held in
the last three years. Producer of
the show is Mr. George Cull,
who came up with the idea of a
stage production involving both
students and members of the
community after reading the
Hall-Dennis report on education
which advocated more
community involvement in
schools.
Cast of the play includes 110
members. Adults have been
practicing since October, once a
week. Students nave ueen at,
work since December.
Mr. Cull admitted that there
are some problems working with
both adults and students and
with so large a cast. "We finally
had to tell the students that they
would have to start practicing in
the evenings so the whole cast
could work together", he said.
An addition of eight feet will
be added to the front of the
stage in order to handle the large
cast.
