Mrs. Clifford opened the meeting with a reading and various reports were given. The president thanked the group for their splendid support of the bake sale, which proved successful. The unit is planning to sponsor a "Family Theatre Night" to be held May 26, at Brownies' Drive-In. Members were urged to try and sell their tickets early. Peggy Menzies is in charge of this project. The group voted to support the noon luncheon planned for ., June as an over-all project. Mrs. Clifford's letter of resignation as unit leader was read and accepted with regret. A new leader will be nominated at next month's meeting. Devotions were conducted by Marie McDonald with the theme of the worship service being "A Sense of Belonging". Jean Peterson and Nancy Wise were in charge of programme. A most interesting talk on the importance of reading, and an outline of the book "Choice in Change" was given by Jean. Nancy conducted a contest and lunch was in charge of Helen Chabod. The meeting closed with the Mizpah Benediction. Girl Guides celebrate 60th anniversary Sixty years after Guiding an address to stimulate began in St. Catherines, 500 discussion and the exchange of adult members will gather in nearby Niagara Falls for the Annual Meeting and Conference of the Ontario Council, Girl Guides of Canada, Guides du Canada. The Conference will be held in the Sheraton Brock Hotel, April 30th to May 2nd, 1970. The programme has been designed to help leaders evaluate principles of 60 years' standing in the light of the needs of to-day's girl. Mrs. John Corbett of Westmount, Quebec, a former Canadian Chief ' Commissioner, will open the Conference with Goderich Motors (Ford) Ltd. The worship service was taken by the three members who were in charge of the evening. Call to worship was the singing of a hymn. Mrs. Marjorie Porter read a story. Mrs. Helen Davies read the scripture and led in prayer. Mrs. Margaret Cole read the meditation. The worship service closed with the singing of the hymn "0 God our Help in Ages Past". The president took the chair for the business meeting and read two poems. The secretary, Mrs. Bessie Steep,' read the minutes of the March meeting. Miss Billie Stewart read the treasurer's report and the offering was taken. Mrs. Nediger asked 'for convener's reports. Mrs. Jean Sinclair asked the ladies to remember to bring in used nylons. Visiting convener, Mrs. Jean Currie asked the ladies to try to do more visiting and said 10 home calls and 12 hospital calls had been made by the members, on W.W. members. Mrs. Nediger announced that the UCW would hold a noon luncheon on June 4 and cater for a wedding May 9. The Magic Circle decided to have a noon luncheon May 5 and sell tickets RV MRS. H. F. BERRY M. Leon Rushcall, Vancouver; B. C., Spent a week with her Parents, Mr, and Mrs. ROSS Scott and brother Ken and She left !Or her honle on Monday. Mrs. A. Haan, Miss M. B. SWan, and Mr. Wesley Ham spent two weeks in several parts of the United States. Mrs. Bert McKay, London is visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Mac Wilson. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hummel, spent the weekend with Mrs. Hummel's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. McNaughton. Mrs, George Griffith, Becky and Margo, Stratford, spent Sunday with Mrs. H. Berry. TUCKERSMITH U. C. W. The April meeting of Tuckersmith U.C.W. unit of Brucefield United Church was held at the home of Mrs. Ross Scott. Mrs. Ross Chapman and Mrs. J. Henderson were in charge. A poem was read by Mrs. Henderson. The offering was received by Mrs. Henderson and dedicated by Mrs. Chapman who also took the study book. The roll call was answered by 16 members and one visitor, Mrs. Rushcall of Vancouver. Mrs. J. McNaughton gave the secretary's report and the treasurer's report was also given. Mrs. Berry reported that 19 dollars were collected at a penny for every meal during Lent. A card was read from Mrs. N. Sillery thanking everyone for their kindness for gifts and help at the time of their 00th anniversary. The president, Mrs. Paterson chaired the meeting for the business section. A contest conducted by Mrs. Henderson was enjoyed by all. The May meeting is to be held at the home of . Mrs. Ross Chapman on Monday evening, May 11, Refreshments were served by Mrs. Scott, Mrs. Henderson, Mrs. W. Pepper and Mrs. Rushcall. Winter Carnival Committee Meeting TUESDAY, MAY 5 8:00 P.M. REORGANIZATION MEETING and YEAR END REPORTS CLINTON COMMUNITY CENTRE in advance. Conveners are to be Mrs. Bessie Steep, Mrs. Gretta Nediger and Mrs. Jean Sinclair. Mrs. Davies introduced the speaker for the evening, Mrs. Claire Magee who showed beautiful colored slides of wild flowers, common to Huron County. The pictures had been taken by Mrs. Magee's son. Mrs. Magee told much about the flowers. Some of them are common and some very rare. , Mrs. Cole thanked Mrs. Magee for a most enjoyable imaginary trip into Huron and Bruce ' County woods.
