Letter to the Editor
The Editor:
What are we doing about the
recent shocking events in our
midst?
I refer of course, to the
sadistic murder of Miss
Katherine MacGregor and the
subsequent trial.,:and sentencing
of the guilty person.
This has been referred to as
`the worst crime of the era' and
concerned individuals are
expressing dissatisfaction with
the weakness in our judicial
system.
Can we, in this community
afford to feel any complacency
that we are properly protected
from this sort of thing? Since
the taking of this life, was dealt
with so leniently, what possible
deterrent exists to prevent
further crime from other sick
and frustrated minds? A recent
writer to the London Free Press
has expressed my feelings
exactly when he said 'if this is
what our courts can do, then
God help Canada'.
May I suggest a FLOOD of
letters to the justice department
at Queen's Park to register our
protest?
Worried.
