What have they done to My Three Sons?
Over the many years that Fred MacMurray's .clart have been
Sporting across the television screens of North America, the show has
been remarkable . in the fact that it is one of the .few situation
comedies that managed to stay fresh year after year,
A large part of the .Show's success was dire.to the fact that it
changed. people got married rather than coming close time and time
again but always escaping. New members were added to the cast and
others dropped without undue commotion. 'The changes. kept the
,show close - to real life. Even the marriage of Fred MacMurray as the
father this year kept the show moving. But the inclusion of daughter
Dpdie, played. by Ypang. Dawn Lyn brought a low point in the
show's loog history. •
The trouble is that Miss Lyn is just too nice and too clever, and,
like .anything too .sweet, it makes one gag sooner or later (with me it
was sooner).
Her inclusion .has changed the whole tone of the show. More time
is devoted to her clever sayings and little-girl problems than to any
of the other characters in the show.
Hopefully, the producers of the show will see the error of their
ways and de-emphasize her part before she destroys the loyal
following of the show.
SPOTLIGHTS How Sharon Acker, the fine Toronto Actress who
seemed headed for stardom after a large role in Point Blank, has
come down. Recently she could be seen on television on a headache
commercial....Don Messer and his orchestra will be back in Clinton
again this year. They will appear at the Community Centre where
they drew 1900 people last year. The show, sponsored by the Fish
and Game club and the Recreation Committee, will take place late in
May.....Customers of the Toronto Daily Star have a right to be a
little disturbed by the quality of the Star's Saturday television
magazine. The quality of paper, printing and contents were down
just about. the same the Star raised its Saturday price to 20 cents
per copy.....In the irony department, CFCA FM, Kitchener runs an
American commentary show by Earl Nightingale on the weekend.
This week it was sponsored by an organization stressing the
importance of keeping Canadian exports high.

Confidence on the road is a
good thing. But the Ontario
Safety League warns drivers
against being too confident.
Sixty-four percent of railway
level crossing accidents happen
in clear weather and 60 percent
occur during daylight hours.
Now,s the time to check your
driving habits ... watch out
especially for that common
failing, inattention.
