HomeMy WebLinkAboutClinton News-Record, 1970-04-02, Page 2Entertainment BY KAY .U.UARg. What have they done to My Three Sons? Over the many years that Fred MacMurray's .clart have been Sporting across the television screens of North America, the show has been remarkable . in the fact that it is one of the .few situation comedies that managed to stay fresh year after year, A large part of the .Show's success was dire.to the fact that it changed. people got married rather than coming close time and time again but always escaping. New members were added to the cast and others dropped without undue commotion. 'The changes. kept the ,show close - to real life. Even the marriage of Fred MacMurray as the father this year kept the show moving. But the inclusion of daughter Dpdie, played. by Ypang. Dawn Lyn brought a low point in the show's loog history. • The trouble is that Miss Lyn is just too nice and too clever, and, like .anything too .sweet, it makes one gag sooner or later (with me it was sooner). Her inclusion .has changed the whole tone of the show. More time is devoted to her clever sayings and little-girl problems than to any of the other characters in the show. Hopefully, the producers of the show will see the error of their ways and de-emphasize her part before she destroys the loyal following of the show.
