scoreless first and second periods
before Cook scored his
unassisted marker at 2:10 of the

The snarl of high-powered
snowmobile engines echoed
across Clinton Community Park
Sunday afternoon as 100
machines vied for prize money
in the snowmobile races at the
second annual Clinton Winter
Carnival.
More than 3,000 people
watched the 14 races. The field
of drivers was so large that heats
were required in most events,
Despite several spills no one
was injured although two
machines were damaged. A
combination of crisp weather
which kept the snow in good
shape, and hard work by the
Kinsmen's Club and others who
handled the preparation of the
track and the banking of the
corners had the track in
excellent shape.
Top money winner of the day
was Ron Moore of -Stratford
who took five wins and a second
place finish worth $135.
A spectacular crash took
place in the women's "B" race
when Nettie Hopper of Seaforth
and Marilyn Reuvel of
Strathroy, running one-two
going into the second lap, both
flipped their machines going into
a turn but luckily were not hit
by any of the following
machines.
