suddenly in Clinton Public
'NosPital, January 26, 1970 et 70
Yeara of age.
He' was born December 1 9,
1894 in Stanley TownshiP, the
son of the late Nelson Keyea and
Minerva Kennedy. He spent his
life in Stanley Township near
Varna.
He was married .October 10,
1921 on Beechwood Farm in
Goderich Township to Jessie
MacKenzie who survives him.
He was an active member of
Varna United Church and was
Clerk of the* Session for 40
years.
He is survived by two
daughters, Mrs. Chester (Maud)
Matlock of Baden and Mrs.
George (Jean) Campbell of
Camlachie and three sons,
Donald of Point Edward,
George, Varna and Kenneth,
Toronto.
Also survived by three
brothers, Ruskin, Kitchener,
Wilbur, Seaforth, Stuart, Orillia
and by nine grandchildren. One
brother, Elmore, predeceased
him.
Funeral services took place
January .29 from Ball's Funeral
Home, Clinton with Rev:
Murdoch Morrison, Varna,
officiating. Interment was in
Bayfield Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Donald
Campbell, John Campbell,
Merton Keyes, Stuart Keyes,
Wm. McAsh.
Flowerbearers were grandsons
Steve Matlock and Douglas
Keyes.
Relatives and friends
attended from Orillia, Sarnia,
Port Elgin, London, Woodstock,
Oakville, Brampton and
Kitchener.
ALVA CLINTON McDOWELL
Alva Clinton McDowell, 76,
of Blyth, passed away suddenly
on Monday January 26, 1970 in
Clinton Public Hospital. He was
the youngest and last surviving
member in a family of 11 of the
late John . McDowell and Ann
Jane McClinton.
He was born on his father's
farm in East Wawanosh
Township where he lived for 70
years, until six years ago' when
he and his wife moved to Blyth.
In 1921 he married the
former Della Braithwaite,
daughter of the late Marshall
Braithwaite nnci Margaret
McVittie of boncinstiorn, He was an active member of
the Westfinici United Church and
later of :the Blyth United
Surviving besides his wife is
one daughter Mrs.. Harvey
(Ferne) McDowell, of Westfield
and two sons, Murray of
C ookst own and. Lloyd .of
Stratford Stratford an.d nine
grandchildren.
The funeral service was held
Thursday, January 29 at 2;00
p.m. at the Tasker Memorial
ChnPel in Blyth conducted by
Rev. W, G. Mather.'
Pallbear ers were Lloyd

Smith, Howard Campbell, and

JOHN L. McGUIRE„.
John L. McGuire, RR 1,
Clinton died in Clinton Public
Hospital Friday, January 30. He
was 94 years of age.
He was born in Goderich
Township, the son of Mary
Shanahan and Andrew McGuire
on December 23, 1876. He
attended school at S.S. 8,
Goderich Township.
He was married in St.
Augustine on September 26,
1928 and lived at RR 2, Bayfield
and FIR 1, Clinton .after
marriage. He was a farmer. -
Left to mourn are three
daughters: Mrs. John (Doreen)
Nogalo, Sault Ste. Marie,
Ontario; Mrs. David (Dorthy)
Graubert, Manhasset, New York;
and Miss Lenore . McGuire,
Toronto.
Also surviving are two sisters
and one brother: Mrs. Bernard
(Margaret) Clark, St. Thomas;
Mrs. Jack (Ella) Reehill,
London; and -William A.
McGuire, Goderich.
The funeral „ took place
February 2, in Clinton. The Rev.
A. R. Looby and Rev. R.
Moynahan offiCiated. Interment
was in Clinton Cemetery.

Clem Reynolds, Eldon O'Brien.
and Arnold Dale, all of Clinton,
and Fraser Stirling, . Bayfield,
were pallbearers.

J. Ernest Johnston, Goderich
Township, died Monday;
January 26 at. Alexandra General
and Marine Hospital following
an illness of one month. He was
81.
He was born September 19,
1888 in Goderich' Township to
Robert and Agnes Johnston. He
was a lifelong resident of
eloderich Township and farmed
there.
He was married June 12,
1912,. in Goderich to the former
