devotional. Mrs, Currie read a
poem.
Mrs. Rodger Venner very
capably presented the study
"Reconciliation of a Broken
World," dwelling on the fact
that action' and reflectionsai 'need
to be interdependent, only so
will the reconciliation given to
us in Christ 'be discovered and
realized. ,
Roll call was answered with
16 members.
It was announced that the
congregational dinner and
annual meeting are on
Wednesday, January 28th.

o'clock, when ...Ruby Jean,
daughter of Mrs. John Ingram of
Hensall, and the late Mr. Ingram
and Allan Crerar, RR 2, Hensall,
son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alex
Crerar, exchanged marriage vows
before the Rev. H. F. Currie.
The attendants were Mr. and

when Muriel Dianne Ferguson,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs‘
Ferguson, Hensall,, and Thomas
Alexander Dalrymple, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Wilmer Dalrymple,
Exeter, exchanged marriage
wows before the Hey, H. P.
Currie amid a floral background
of Christmas motif and
candelabra. Mrs. John Tprkheim
provided, traditional bridal
music.
Givep in marriage by her
father the bride was lovely in a
floor length wedding gown of
white peau de sole featuring a
sweetheart neckline trimmed
with baby pearls and lace. The
sleeves of the gown were long
and pointed at the wrist and a
chapel train 'fell from the
shoulders.
The shoulder length veil was
held with baby pearls and small
white flowers. She carried a
bridal bouquet of red carnations
and ivy. Audrey Hodgert,
Bornholm, cousin of the bride
attended the bride wearing a
gown of emerald green velvet
and lighter green peau de sole
with an empire waist and
scooped neckline. She wore a
two-toned bow headpiece and
carried red and white mums.
Douglas Dalrymple, Exeter,
attended his brother as
groomsman, and ushers were
Charles Dalrymple, brother of
the groom and Kenneth
Ferguson, Hensall, brother of
the bride.
For the reception held in the
United Church parlours, Mrs.
Ferguson received wearing a gold
two-piece suit with gold and
brown, accessories and a bronze
and yellow corsage. The groom's
mother chose a mint green dress,
accessories and black and yellow
corsage.
For travelling the bride
changed to a -mauve wool outfit
trimmed with Persian lamb and
orchid corsage. They are residing
at 65 Victoria Street in Exeter.

Mrs. Verna Twitched has
• returned after spending two
weeks' holiday with her
daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. Allen Davidson, Cindy and
Brian, of Port Colborne.
Miss Barbara Woodruff of
London, regional secretary,, of
London-Hamilton Synodical was
'a house 'guest 'on Monday of this
week with Mrs. Gordon
Schwalm.
Floyd Craine of 156 King St.
Hensall, was taken by Westlake
ambulance Monday of this week
to South Huron Hospital,
Exeter. Mr. Craine who is
confined to a wheel chair as a
result of a car accident at New
Brunswick in December 1969, is
the son of Mrs. David Leader of
156 King Street.
Miss Margaret MacCormack of
Ottawa, Northern Senior Ladies
Figure Skating Champion of
1969 visited with Miss Troyann
Bell last week.
Carolyn Leigh Soldan, infant'
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William
H. Soldan, received the
sacrament of holy baptism at
Hensall United Church Sunday
morning with, Rev, Harold,. F.
Currie in charge,

Cost rise
The rising cost of living is
reflected in a new amendment to
the Ontario Highway Traffic Act
which becomes effective on „
January 1.
Previously, collisions involving
personal injury or property
damage exceeding $100 had to
be reported to the nearest
provincial or municipal police
officer.
The property damage
minimum will be increased, on
Jan, 1, to $200.

year of the Women's. Missionary
Society of Carmel PreSbyterian
Church Thursday afternoon with
Peerri and a prayer. She
welcomed vice-president Mrs.
George Wale back who has been
ill for severe' months. The
devotional and study cif the
'Reconciliation in the New
World" was given by Mrs.
Harvey Hyde and Mrs. Harold
Bell. Roll call was answered.
Past President Mrs, Earl
Campbell presented a 'Life
Membership Certificate to Mrs.
Clarence Yolland who was much
surprised and thanked the
members for such an honor.
Several thank you cards and
letters wore read from the sick
and shut-ins who received the
baskets of gifts and treats at
Christmas which the W,M.S.
packed and delivered to 21
homes.

reviewed highlights for 1969 of
the activities of the W.M.S.
Several 'ladies plan to attend the
annual meeting of the Huron
Presbyterial which will be held
in Seaforth Wednesday Jan.
14th, •
Then next meeting scheduled
for February 12th will be in the
form of a Valentine meeting,
with Mrs. Clarence Volland and
Mrs. Gordon Troyer presenting
the devotional and study.
President Mrs. Orr had nine
knitted infants shirts for
underprivileged children for
other countries on display.
Several ladies knitted these in
various colors and sizes.
The Ladies Aid held a brief
business meeting with the new
president, Mrs. Clarence Volland
presiding, and laid plans for a '
bake sale in March and a bazaar
in the fall.

The regular meeting of the
ACW was held at the home of
Mrs., F: Clark, with Mrs. W.
Scrabuik presiding, who opened
with prayer. Buiiness of the day
was attended to and the bulletin
read. Mrs. Mary Taylor read 'a
letter from Captain Corey, their
prayer partner of Beverly Lodge.
It was decided to send a
donation of money to Captain
Corey. Mrs. G. A. Anderson •
conducted Bible readiniO with
all members taking part. Nextj
meeting will be held at the home
of Mrs. Annie Reid, roll call to

LEGION AUXILIARY =
The new president, Mrs. Vic
Stan took the chair for the
January meeting of the Legion
'Ladies Auxiliary held in the
Legion Hall Tuesday evening,
January 6, when it was
announced they will cater to a
wedding anniversary in the near
future. Mrs. Grant McClinchey
and Mrs. R. Vanstone were
installed 011 the executive by
Past President,,Mrs. Garnet
Allan. The group will also
*conduct a bingo at the giant
winter carnival coming up in the
near future. Mystery prize was
won by Mrs. Don Koehler;
attendance, Mrs. Grant Bisback;
guessing, Mrs. Clarence Reid.

Huron. Hospital, Exeter, He bad
heen.admitted the week previous.

Zurich, where 'he had been a
resident for several years. In his
85th year, he was born ,on the
homestead farm a short distance
from Hensall on Highway 4,
where he lived and farmed all his
life. until recent years, He was .4
member of Carmel Presbyterian
Church, Hensall, and a member
of the IOW Lodge 223 .Hensall,
Surviving are his wife, the
former Grace Love, and several
nieces and nephews, Public
funeral services were held
Monday, January 12, at 2 p.m.
at the Bonthron Funeral Horne,
cpnducted. by Rev. W. D, Jarvis.
Burial was in Hensel) Union
-Cemetery. The IOOF Lodge
conducted a service at the
Funeral Home Sunday evening.
Pallbearers were Earl and
Percy Campbell, Ed Munn,
Glenn Bell, Stanley Love. and
Archie Parsons.

Noble Grand Mrs. Elgin
Thompson presided for the
regular meeting of Amber
Rebekah Lodge held Wednesday
evening the seventh and
attended by 27. Thank you
notes were read from sick and
shut-ins who had received plants
and treats at Christmas. It was
announced' that Mrs. John
Corbett, a member, had returned
home from South Hurbn
Hospital, Exeter. A donation
was made to the United Nations
Pilgrimage which the Lodge
sponsors each year.. It was
decided to hold ',heir 21st annual
birthday party Wednesday
February 4th. Special guests will
be members of the Clinton
Lodge, and District Deputy

Fellowship Hall with Mrs. James
McAllister presiding. The
devotidnal was given by Mrs.
Albert Alexander who spoke on
the faith in God one needs to
carry on in a troubled world.
Mrs. James McAllister conducted
the Bible study assisted by Mrs.
Harold Currie. Miss Greta
Laramie played a piano solo. It
was announced that the
Huron-Perth Presbyterial of
United Church Women will be
held in Clinton Thursday,
January 29th. All those planning
to attend should take a, box

beginning of the Week of Prayer
for Christian Unity. The service
