A native of London, England,
the speaker is a graduate of
Oxford University in
philosophy; then attended
McGill in Montreal from 1965 to
1967, graduating in political
science. He is presently working
as a pilot and suveyor for a firm
in Yellowknife, N.W.T., while
working on his Ph.D.
The speaker gave a complete
history of northwest Canada and
its native .Eskimos and Indians.
He was introduced by Lion Rev.
R. U. MacLean and thanked and
presented with a gift by past
president, Don C. Colquhoun.
Winners of draw prizes were
John Livermore, regular draw;
and two special prizes, Harold
Bondy, and Pat Hoonan.
The Lions will hold an
executive meeting in the town
hall on Tuesday evening,
January 20.

MRS. WI IAM'SCOTCHMER
Mrs. William Scotchmer, 82,
f R.R. 2, 'Seaforth, died
onday at Huronview, Clinton.
She was the former Della Eva
arrison, daughter of Mr. and
rs. Thomas Harrison and was
min Goderich Township. She
ttended school in Goderich
ownship and later the Goderich
ollegiate. Following her
marriage she resided in Stanley
Township retiring to Seaforth
in 1946. Her husband to whom
she was married January 1, 1913
predeceased her in 1965.
• Surviving are daughters, Mrs.
James (Elinor) Black, of
Belmont; Mrs. Joseph (Irene)
Wild. of. Clinton: Mrs.
Oliver (Kathleen) Yallop, of
Cooksville; Mrs. Robert (Anne)
Wallace, of Tuckersmith
Township; son Thomas, of
Guelph; four sisters, Mrs. E.
(Irene) Townsend, of R.R. 1,
Bayfield; Mrs. Annie Proctor,
and Mrs. Lorne (Ella) Thurlow,
both of Goderich, Mrs. Florence
Williamson of Vancouver; 11
grandchildren and five great
grandchildren.
The body was at the R. S.
Box funeral home, Seaforth. A
private service conducted by
Bishop Wm. Townsend of
London was held at 11 o'clock
Thursday morning and a public
service conducted that afternoon
by Rev. E. J. B. Harrison was
held at 1 p.m. at Trinity
Anglican Church, Bayfield with
burial in Bayfield cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Wm. Wild,
James Scotchmer, Barry Wild,
Kenneth Black, James Yallop,
Wm. Wallace. Flowerbearers
were: John Wild and Charles
Scotchmer.

short business period. Mrs. John.
Broadfoot reported the receipts

2 $617,90, unit $126.96,
After all accounts were paid a
balance of $1,702 was tabled,
Mrs. Berry read thank you notes
from Mr. •F. Beudge, Miss E.
Bowey and Mr. Win, Stuart,
sympathy cards from Mrs, G.
McGregor and'Mrs. D. Clark and
a letter of great appreciation
from Mrs. Clifton, a patient for
sonic time in St. Joseph'S
Jan. 29th. The group was asked
to save all nylons, stamps and
Christmas cards to be left at the
church.
A get well card was signed and
sent to Mrs, W. Haugh who is a
patient in Toronto. Ways and
means to raise money for 1970
were discussed. The meeting
closed with prayer by Mrs.
Paterson.
The hostess, Mrs. Stuart, Mrs.
Ham, Mrs. N. Sillery, Mrs.
Walker and Mrs. Berry served a
lunch.

Mr. and Mrs. William Norman
were pleased to learn that their
son Jack has successfully passed
the most recent set of uniform
final exams of the Canadian
Institute of Chartered
Accountants which were written
in early October 1969.
Jack graduated from Clinton
District Collegiate Institute in
1957;' he received his B.A,Sc.
and M.A.Sc. from• the University
of Toronto in engineering
geology. During 1963 to June
1965, he was employed by
Socony Mobil Oil, working out
of Dawson Creek, B.C. From
1965 to 1969 Jack articled for
his CA with McDonald, Currie &
Co. in Vancouver, B.C.; and is
presently with Amax
Exploration Inc., a subsidiary of
American Metal Climax Inca in
their Vancouver exploration
office; He is married to the

United Church was held at the
home of Mrs. D. Stuart on
Monday afternoon with Mrs.
Norman Walker and Mrs. James
McNaughton in charge of the
devotions. Mrs. McNaughton
opened the meeting with a
poem, A hymn was sung with
Mrs. Ross Scott at the piano.

Given in marriage by her
father, the bride wore a
traditional floor-length gown of
white lagoda silk featuring a high
neckline of imported appliqued
lace overlay, as did the tight
fitting cuffs on the large bell
sleeves, and a fitted waistline
with a sheath skirt. A cathedral
train fell in pleats from the waist
at the back. The shoulder-length
triple illusion veil was held by a
headpiece of fabric flowers
which matched the gown. The
bride's bouquet was a cascade of
Pink Delight roses and fern. .
The ' maid of honor, Miss
We nda Boughen, Stirling,
Ontario, and the bridesmaids,
Miss Gwen Hendrick, London,
and Miss Brenda Ann
Hargreaves, \.Brucefield, were
attired alike' in floor-length
gowns of cerise chiffon over
taffeta featuring high necklines,
full puff sleeves with tight fitting
cuffs and floor-length trains
falling from the back neckline.
They wore variegated carnations,
in their hair and carried
bouquets of variegated pink and
white carnations.
The bridegroom was attended
by his brother, Ron Livermore,
Gorrie, and guests were ushered
by John Cooper, Parry Sound,
and Paul Swan, Brucefield,
brother of the bride.
Followini the ceremony, a
reception was heldAn the church
basement which was decorated
in the Christmas theme. Mrs.
Swan, who chose a champagne
dress and jacket ensemble, tan
accessories and wore a corsage of
Pink Delight roses, was assisted
in receiving guests by Mrs.
Livermore, dressed in a mint
green dress and jacket ensemble
with a corsage of Pink Delight
roses.
For the wedding trip, the
bride donned a burgundy velvet
dress with black accessories and
yellow'rose corsage.
Prior to her marriage, the
bride was guest of honor at
several showers.
