—Continued from Page 1
tails, Mr. Dobbs said the year had
been an exceptionally active one
but he had enjoyed it.
The functions which he attend
ed included the opening of Thorn
dale Bridge, of the new power
plant at Niagara Falls, the civic
reception for the Duchess of Kent
and Princess Alexandra, opening
of Supreme Court, laying of the
cornerstone at Middlesex County
Home, opening of new wings at
St. Joseph’s and Victoria hospitals
in London. He was required also
to appear at two annexation hear
ings which involved the county.
During the year,
county spent over two
dollars on roads, the
amount for any county
province. “People today
manding roads more than any
thing else,” Mr. Dobbs said.
Among the projects initiated by
council this year were the new
$175,000 wing for the Home for
the Aged, and the $20,000 addi
tion to the county building.
The warden said the boundary
bridge west of Parkhill was one
of the county’s major problems.
Abutments had been undermined
by the Ausable River and engin
eers found it impossible to re
inforce the structure because of
the loose soil. The county has now
authorized the removal of the
bridge because it is feared it
might fall into the river and block
it, causing floods in the spring.
Frank Hudson, clerk of the
township, was chairman for the
meeting. About 30 ratepayers at
tended.

Mohawks Lose
—Continued from Page 1
Mohawks outshot Milverton
during the contest but they didn’t
have the scoring punch. Royals,
on the other hand, were spectacu
lar -when they capitalized on their
breaks. They received assistance,
however, from loose defence.
Milverton was running away
with the contest with a 6-0 lead
at the end of the second period
when the tribe began scoring. It
was the third line—Doug Beatty,
Doug Smith and Bill Hayward—
who connected. The fast-skating
Beatty scored two goals, Smith as
sisting on both and Hayward get
ting credit for one point. The
third Mohawk goal was counted
by Pete Restelli who slapped
home a loose puck in front of the
net.
The three Mohawk markers
came within six minutes after the
third period opened and it looked
like the tribe might catch fire.
Royals’ defensive play squelched
the blaze and at 15.51 they clinch
ed the contest when bald-headed
Bob Gaul knocked home a re
bound to make the final score
7-3.
Mitchell Victory
Third In String
A three-goal outburst in the
third period gave Mohawks a
4-1 victory over a fighting Mit
chell crew Friday
tended the tribe’s
three.
Harry McEwen,
and Colle Bowman scored the pay
off markers aftei’ Barry Doak
had given the double-blues a 1-0
lead in the second periods
Gar Baker was robbed of his
first shutout when Johnny Berger
scored Mitchell’s lone tally 18
seconds before the final whistle.
Star of the night was Mohawk’s
suJb-goaltender, Dick McFalls, who
staffed the Legionaires’ nets when
Bruce Chessell failed to appear.
It was 1 McFall’s play which in
spired the short-handed Mitchell
team to give Mohawks a run for
their two points.
Of the ten penalties called in
the game, Mohawk’s Bill Hay
ward received half of them. He
was. given three for interference,
one for roughing and one for
buttending.
