Meeting Mrs, Elmer powe was leader for the Christmas meeting of the W, M. S, in the schoolroom of the church on Tuesday evening. The worship service dpened with a scripture reading and prayer by Mrs. Geo. HicKs A duet was sung by Mrs. Nor­ man Tripp and Eleanor Hodgins. A Christmas poem was given by Mrs. Gates. Bobby Lammie sang a solo during the presentation of the Christmas story by Mrs. Powe and Mrs- K, Hodgins. Mrs. Hep­ burn read a story. Mrs, Lome Hicks, Mrs. Foley and Mrs. A. McFalis offered prayer at inter­ vals during the service. Mrs. M. Elliott presided for the business. A Christmas gift was arranged for Miss Francis Clarke, a student at the United Church Training School. Lunch S'choldice, Bowden. Christinas The annual Christmas enter­ tainment was held in the school­ room of the United Church "Wed­ nesday evening with .a large at­ tendance. Mrs. Reg. Hodgson pre­ sided over a very fine program consisting of choruses, recitations solos, duets, dialogues and mus­ ical numbers. To climax the even­ ing Sana Claus arrived to distrib­ ute gifts. Personal Items Mr, Steve Molnar, of Montreal, is spending the Christmas holi­ days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs, S- Molnar. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Haddock visited will relatives in London Thursday of last week. Miss Francis Clarke, a student at the United Church Training School, Toronto, is spending the vacation with her parents, Rev. Christmas Concerts A Christmas program was sented in the Evangelical Church by members of the Sunday School on Sunday evening with Mr. Ed Hendrick as chairman. Mrs. Clifton Brown pre­ sided for the party. Mrs. Mary Ann Nichols, who died in Strathroy hospital Sunday, was born and raised near Credl- ton. The former Mary Ann Fink- beiner, she was a daughter of the late Mr, and Mrs. Matthew Fink- beiner and married 'William J, Nichols, who predeceased her. She is survived by several children. Funeral service was held in Strathroy on Tuesday. Inter­ ment was in St, Ann’s Cemetery. Personal Items Dr. Lulu Gaiser and father, Mr. William Gaiser Sr., are leaving this week for Florida, where they will spend some time. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Finkbeiner are spending the holidays with Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Finkbeiner in Barrie. Mr. Edwin Wein is much proved following his recent ness. Mr. and Mrs. A. Wuerth Mrs. Mildred Holtzman, were callers in town Sunday eve­ ning and attended service in the Evangelical Church. The Story In Saintsbury By MRS. H. DAVIS * Mrs. W. J. Davis, Mr. and Mrs. J. Turner and Mr. Gote Wein- straum were Saturday evening guests with Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Davis. Mrs, Turner was guest of honor as she was celebrating a birthday, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Carroll and boys and Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Ab­ bott and Rowena were Saturday dinner guests with Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hodgins, their family. Mr. and Mrs. Heather were dinner Nelson Squire. The congregation of St. rick’s Church catered for the den’s banquet held in the Lucan Community Arena on Tuesday evening, Mr. Bred Dobbs, a for­ mer member of St. Patrick’s, was warden for the County of Middle­ sex for 1954. The W.A., of St. Patrick’s held its annual meeting recently. All obligations were met and a sum of money was voted to the budget. Rev. Mills presided for the elec­ tion of officers. Clarke delivered a message in keeping with Christ­ mas on Sunday morning. During the service four babies and three young children were baptized. Therte will be two services next Sunday. The morning service will be held at the usual time and a carol service "The Meaning of Christmas" at 7'. 30 in the evening Dashwood Girl Nurses Actor Miss Helen Sullivan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Sullivan, of Dashwood, who is on the staff of St. Joseph’s Hospital, Sarnia, was one of the nurses who looked after actor Pat O’Brien when he entered the hospital for a check­ up. The actor wasn’t really in need of hospital care, but when he heard his good friend, Joseph Kupke, of Algonac, Mich., was a patient in the Sarnia hospital, he came from Illinois to visit him. To make sure he wouldn’t have to observe visiting hours, he took up residence”there for a check-up. He enjoyed the peaceful atmos­ phere of St. Joseph’s.
