$10 will be forwarded to the
Children’s Aid at Goderich. Mem
bers exchanged gifts. Plans were
made for a dance between Christ
mas and New Years, and a euchre
and dance in January. Santa
Claus distributed gifts and each
child received a bag of treats.
Lunch was served.

ville Women’s Institute. Mrs. Del-
mer Skinner, who convened the
program, read “The Joy of Christ
mas” as the opening number.

into buttered pan and mark be

dish as sometimes it is necessary
to “whack” the pan to loosen the
candy.

PEANUT BRITTLE

cup blanched peanuts
cup granulated sugar
cup corn syrup
tsp. salt
tb. butter

Measure peanuts into a pan
and heat in slow oven while mak
ing the syrup.
Measure sugar and corn syrup
into saucepan. Bring to boil, stir
ring until sugaj1 dissolves. Then
boil gently, stirring occasionally,-
until a little syrup dropped into
cold water forms a brittle ball
(264° on candy thermometer).
Remove from heat and
add salt and butter and
hot peanuts. Pour quickly

Boil above ingredients together
for five minutes. Cool.
Add;
1 “tsp. soda dissolved in hot
water
cups sifted flour

tsp. vanilla

Mrs. Baton adds 1 pound dates
and more raisins than the recipe
calls for and also some almond
flavoring. No eggs are needed in
this recipe.
Correction: Sorry to say there
were three errors in Mrs. William
Wood’s Christmas cake recipe.
A misunderstanding on our part
of abbreviations for teaspoon and
tablespoon: 1 teaspoon cinnamon;
1 teaspoon soda, and 2 teaspoons
cream of tartar are the correct
amounts, Hope no one used the
recipe with tablespoons of these
ingredients or Gram will spend
