W. Pariknson supplying for Mrs. William Brownlee. A minute’s silence was observ- ed in memory of one of the branch’s most faithful members, Mrs. Wilbert Revington. Later on in the meeting it was decided to further perpetuate her memory by the purchasing of a Bible to be used by the W.I. Mrs. Erwin Scott and Mrs. Harry Lankin were named to purchase the same. Roll call was answered by the naming of a good quality of the person to the left. During the business session, $5 was voted for the C.N.I.B. and §5 to the Children’s Memorial Hospital. It was decided that the branch would again not ask for the Legislative grant. The members who were to re­ port on the Area Convention were absent but the president filled in with an interesting review of the book, “Sargon The Magnificent,” by Mrs. Sydney Brinstone. Refreshments were served by Mrs. C. H. George, Mrs. N. Was- nidge, Mrs. G. Banting, Mrs. John Park, Mrs. Jack Lankin and Mrs. J. Darling, Credit Union The executive of the Lucan Credit Union met at the home of Mr. B. H. Elliott last Tuesday evening. Plans were made for the investment -of some of the funds on hand in the Credit Union League. It was decided to hold an open meeting in Jan­ uary. Recreation Activities | By MURRAY VALIQUETTE = Hockey The Irish Six led by “Starry” Steve Storey, Fred “Deker” Rev- ington, along with Glenn and Le­ roy Revington, really pulled a game out of the fire last Friday night and went on to defeat Ilder­ ton 7-6. Bill Smith made his debut as playing coach a successful one and aided his cause by scoring an important goal. The Irish Six will be hosts to Seaforth this Friday, November 26, and hope to maintain their winning spree. Game time is 8:30 p.m., Lucan Arena. Minor Hockey The Pee Wees are still search­ ing for more hockey players of their category, which is under 12 years of age. The Bantams, under Jim Free­ man, defeated London Cheyennes 0-4 in an exhibtion game last Sat­ urday morning. Arrangements have finally been made with the following towns, Mitchell, Clinton, Gode­ rich, Exeter and Hensail, for Lu­ can to have a Junior "C” entry in a juvenile league comprising these above towns. Hensail also has a junior entry in this juvenile league. The schedule will be drawn up next week and any as­ pirants for the local team are requested to get in touch with Bill Morley or Allan Gledhill. Cyclist Injured Harry Bodtker, a 47-year-old motor-cyclist of R.R. 2, Denfield, was treated at Victoria Hospital for cuts and lacerations received last Friday when his machine was in collision with a car on Dundas St., London. He was taken to Vic­ toria Hospital -by Ballantyne’s London ambulance and was re­ leased after treatment. Provincial Constable Peter Morlock investi­ gated. New Plymouths Are On Display At Reg Armstrong Motors PHONE 216 EXETER Mrs. John Dewan Dies In Detroit Funeral services for Mrs. John Dewan, 85, who passed away in a Detroit hospital on Friday, No­ vember 19, were held from the C. Haskett & Son Funeral Home, Lucan, on Monday, to St. Pat­ rick’s Church where requiem high mass was sung by Father J, A. Machesy. Interment was in the adjoining cemetery. Pallbear­ ers were Frank Austin and James Dewan, Ronnie Broker, Joseph Grace Jr. and Edward Brown. Mrs. Dewan, the former Mary Brown, was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Brown and was born near St. Marys. Her husband, John Dewan, passed away in 1935. They lived for a number of years in St. Marys and Lucan before moving to a Biddulph farm. For over 30 years she has been living in De­ troit. She was the last member I of ner family. She is survived by four daugh­ ters and three sons, Mrs. Janies Clifford (Annie), of Morris, Mich., Mrs. William Kennedy (Mary), (Loretta), (Nellie), Joseph and John, Detroit, and Edward, of Mich.
