The Black Stallion By DONNA BRIDGES Since the animal in which I am most interested is a horse, it is natural that the book I like best is about a horse. This book tells how a wild horse and a boy survive on a lonely island for twenty days. On this island the hoy Alec trains the horse to be ridden. Then a boat comes and takes Alec and the coal black stallion named “Black” to Alec’s home in New York. Alec and a friend take “Black” into Belmont Racetrack and train him for racing at night. Later Black races against “Sun Raider” and “Cyclone” the great est runners in the United States. How could a person who likes horses help being thrilled by read ing “ The Black Stallion!” * * * * Bungalow Mystery By BARBARA MCDONALD This is an exciting book. It tells about a girl named Nancy, who is interested in detective work, her Father being a crimi nal lawyer. In this book Nancy gets involved in < a Bungalow Mystery and this proves to be very interesting. Nancy is a very daring girl and she never leaves a mystery unsolved. The book itself is very standing. The story is good after beginning to read it will want to read it to the The part that I liked best is where Nancy is trying to capture her enemy. This is where she has to do her detective work and this proves her to be a very brave girl. Hampered with an incomplete lineup and new additions, Mo hawks dropped both contests to. the lakeport squad on Wednes day and Friday. Despite the fact that both top forward lines were broken up for Friday’s contest, the tribe held Goderich to an 8-5 win after spotting the visitors a 5-1. lead in a disorganized first period. Harry McEwan, who was using a hockey stick for the first time this season, was out of con dition for the contest and “Boom- Boom” Gravett of the kid line was sidelined with an injured arm. Hard-working Clyve Wilber force scored three of the locals' goals with singles fired by Clayt Needham and Bowman. Junior Barash, the Zurich star with Goderich, had a field day with four goals and two assists. Ted Williams collected two and Jack Merriam and Jack Reis scored one each. The Goderich team appears much the same as last year with the notable addition of Bill Walsh, who played with Strat ford Indians for several years. Walsh is playing-coach of the club.
