Mrs. Hall sang a solo. Mrs. Miller McCurdy gave a peper on the history of the W. A. this being their 50 th anniversary. The first meeting of the Kirk­ ton Branch of the Woman’s Aux­ iliary was held in the basement of St. Paul’s Church on Oct. 14, 1904, and was named the Bishop Baldwin Memorial Branch. Mr, and Mrs. Charles Bailie and family, of Science Hill, are mov­ ing to the village, Mr. Bailie having purchased the property Mr. Wm. L. Ratcliffe. Safety Council For Community? A community safety council may he organized as a result of the safety patrol meeting at the Public School Tuesday night. Donald S. McKay, representa­ tive of the Ontario Safety League, suggested that such a council could be organized to conduct campaigns promoting traffic safe­ ty-Projects might include regular automobile check-ups, promotion of better driving habits, safety weeks, etc. Community safety councils are usually made up of representa­ tives of organizations in town, Mr. McKay said. The group has received many inquiries about the classes and it is expected many will join before the first instruction is given on Saturday, October 30. Mrs. Warren Sanders, president of the club, said membership was still open for any who wish to join. It’s expected that Peter First- brook, the instructor, will hold his first class on Saturday, Octo­ ber 30, if the ice is ready by that time. Mr. Firstbrook, who skated with Barbara Ann Scott last year, is the professional at the London club. Mrs. Sanders said a number of boys will be taking lessons this year for the first time. Officials said there is some confusion over the status of the adult division of the skating club. This class is for pleasure and will not be involved in figure skating instruction. Caven Marks Anniversary Large congregations attended the anniversary services at Caven Presbyterian Church on Sunday. Baskets of chrysanthemums were used in decoration. The Rev. Samuel Kerr deliv­ ered bo’th the morning and even­ ing messages. The choir sang an anthem “Come Holy Spirit,” with W- G. Cochrane taking the solo part, at the morning service.
