Mrs. T, Isaac is a patient in St. Joseph’s Hospital, London, Mr. and Mrs. Westman, Gran­ ton, visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Herb Harlton. Mr. West man was guest soloist in the United Church on Sunday. Mr, and Mrs. Robert Bullock and family, of Arkona; Mr. and Mrs. Pete Pawliwi and family, of Wyoming; Mr. and Mrs, John Sabot and son, of London; Mr. and Mrs, Fred Bullock and daughter visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs, Ed Bullock and family. Mills Lillian Ulens of Windsor spent the weekend with her mo­ ther, Mrs. W. T. Ulens. Mrs. Ulens returned with her to spend the winter in Windsor. Mr. Dawson Woodburn, of To­ ronto, spent the weekend at his home here. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Gardner and family of Bright’s Grove visited on Monday with his mo­ ther, Mrs. J. Gardner, Mrs. Fred McLinchey is visit­ ing this week with relatives in Detroit. Mr. and Mrs. Byron Brown and Stephen of Toronto spent the weekend with Mrs. John Brown and Miss Elda Brown. W.M.S. & W.A. . The W.M.S. and W.A. of the United Church held their Octo­ ber meeting at the home of Mrs, W. C. Smith at the manse, Grand Bend, Mrs. Smith was in charge of the worship service and took a chapter of the study book on India, Mrs. Roy Whit­ ing read a paper on Christian Stewardship and Mrs. Albert Pollock on Citizenship and Tem­ perance. Plans were completed for the South Huron sectional meeting for the W.M.S. convention which is being held in the United Church on Wednesday, October 20 at 9:30 a.m. Mrs. Elton Curts led in prayer for Miss Harris, our missionary for prayer. The W.A. bazaar date was changed from November 13 to November 19 and is being held in Corbett School. Several renovations to the Sunday School rooms were dis­ cussed and a committee was ap­ pointed to look after these re­ pairs. The November meeting is to be held at the home of Ml’s. Donald McGregor. Donald Pullen was a guest on Monday evening at a party ar­ ranged by Miss Marion Brock, of Zion. The W.M.S. and W.A. met on Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Bert Duffield. Mr. and Mrs, Gordon Docking, Phyllis and Doris of Munroe visited with Mr. and Mrs. F. Parkinson on Sunday. Phyllis and Doris remained for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Morley and Joan, of Stratford, were Thanksgiving visitors with Mr. and Mrs, William Morley, Sr. Mr. and Mrs. William Morley, Sr., and Elva and Mr. and Mrs. William Morley, Jr., and Janice were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Brock, of Chisel­ hurst. L, Scott presiding and lead­ ing in devotions. The theme of the meeting was Thanksgiving and Mrs. M. Lamond gave an ap­ propriate topic. Mrs. Grace Scott led in the Glad Tidings prayer. A short paper on faith was read by Miss Olive Speare. Mrs. K. E. Staffen, Mitchell, as Presbyterial visitor spoke on “Leadership and Stewardship.’’ A solo was rendered by Mrs. T. L. Scott. Several former mem­ bers, now residing in Mitchell, were present as guests. The meet­ ing closed with prayer by Mrs. Thos.
