The Exeter Times-Advocate, 1954-07-22, Page 7slwl "Head and Shoulders Above the Crowd" • That’s the verdict of those who know combines. If you always have clean, upstanding crops, you may not really need a combine so capable as the Case “A.” But for small seeds like clover, that take real rubbing to thresh out ... or a brittle crop tike beans ... or fine, fluffy seeds like some of the grasses ... or even grain that is tough to thresh, the “A” is in a class by itself. After his un settled start, he blazed into flaw legs form toward the end of the game, in the sixth and seventh he struck out five in a row. Two walks unnerved him in the eighth but he pitched his way out of trouble. (Directly opposite to Mitro, port- sider Stormes threw tantalizingly- slow knucklers and curves that baffled the locals. Deliberately unhurried, Stormes let Mohawks punch his twisters to fielders; he registered only four strikeouts. Despite the fact that his mates committed five errors*, they were able to make the right plays when they counted. Highlights of Dashwood’s de fensive game were Bob Hayter's bare-handed stab of Fred Dar ling’s crazily - bouncing grounder in the eighth and Raymie Wein’s two single-handed grabs of flies from the bats of Lome Haugh and Harry Holtzman, Fred Darling hit the longest ball of the game—a booming fly that Centrefielder Jack Gaiser Caught at the fence. Ailing Shoulder Hampers Yelle Ray Yelle suffered his second loss Tuesday night as Strathroy Royals laced Legion Mohawks under the lights. Still bothered by his ailing shoulder, the big righthander lacked control and speed. He issued five free passes and threw several costly wild- pitches. Unless his shoulder improves, Yelle will be a big disappoint ment to the Mohawk mentors. He has been able to finish only one J game of the four he has started and has a one-two won-lost re cord. Strathroy scored single runs in the first and second innings and added three each in the fourth and fifth innings. Their final two came in the seventh. Steve Mitro and Jack Elson counted for Exeter in the sixth and Bob Meharg knocked Yelle around in the seventh. George Glendinning and Elson scored in the ninth. The tribe outhit the Royals 8-7' but winning pitcher George Evans was tight in the pinches. Steve Mitro hit two safeties lead Mohawks at bat.
