A successful weiner and marsh
mallow roast, held last week, was
enjoyed by all who attended, al
though rain made our evening a
little shorter than expected,

Irish Nine Playoffs
Our Irish Nine baseball club
enters the playoffs in the Middle
sex-Oxford and Thames Valley
Leagues next week, so come on

our lads, Bill Chown will be giv
ing them a hand at first base!
Annual Hockey Meeting
H. B. Langford resigned as
president of the Irish Six after
20 years of faithful service, and
was made a life honorary mem
ber. J. B. Ready will fill his

Third Shutout
Tribe Whips Radio 16-0,
Mitro Throws One-Hitter
Steve Mitro threw a one-hitter
at Clinton. Radio Monday night
to rack up his third shutout of
the season. His mates ran wild
on the bases for 16 runs.
A single by Miller in the sixth
spoiled Mitro’s bid for a no-hit
game. The Clinton first baseman
struck a sharp grounder between
third and short.
Mtiro. who now has a 4-2 won-
lost record, fanned 10 over the
eight-inning tilt. His only trouble
was his control •— he walked
seven. The pitcher had the best

this week to take over second
and third spots in the standing.
The Tigers finally defeated
Zurich Lumber Kings Thursday
after two tries ended in a dead
lock, Score was 8-4. The Tigers
swamped St. Marys 9-1 Friday
night.
Mohawks slaughtered Clinton
Radio 16-0 Monday night and
edged Zurich 7-3 on Friday.
In the only other game this
week, Mitchell Legionaires main
tained their supremacy of the
league by defeating Zurich 7-4,

will probably start on the mound
for the Huron - Perth all - stars
when they play Listowel Legion-
aires in the annual benefit game
in Mitchell next Wednesday.
T h e righthander, who has
pitched three shutouts and leads
the league in strikeouts, was
named by League President Jim
Fairbairn and Past President
Wally Wein when they announced
the all-star lineup this week.
Exeter, Dashwood and Zurich
stars dominate the dream squad.
