Roberts, who passed away in St. Mary’s Hospital, London, on June 13 in his eighty-first year, were held ral home, afternoon. Ilderton, was in St. don township. Billie Banting of Lucan were among the 60 representatives of the Bantipg family who met at Bright's Grove on Sunday, June 20, for the annual Banting re union. Relatives were there also from Pt. Huron, Flint, Ailsa Craig, St. Thomas, McGillivray and Sarnia. ©eltelbntto Anmiversary •Mr. Thomas Flynn and former Miss Eva Smith, of Park hill, were married, 45 years ago on Wednesday, June 16. On Sunday, June 20, they cele brated with a family gathering. Mr. and Mrs. Flynn moved to Lucan some months ago and living in the home vacated Mrs. J„ B. Armitage. the are by Birthday Mrs. W. T. Banting celebrated her eighty-sixth birthday quietly in her own home on Friday, June 18. Other than having to spend her days in a wheel-chair, Mrs. Banting is wonderfully well. On September 8, 1952, she and the Into Dr. Banting celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary and the following March Dr. Banting passed away. On Sunday Dr. Ken neth Banting and son, Pete,, of Port Huron, were home to cele brate Fathers' Day with her in a family gathering. FA$ T W.I. Honors Officer, President Two Years Twenty - eight members were present for the June meeting of the Lucan W.I. held in the Com munity Centre Thursday with Mrs. Frank Hardy presiding. Roll call was answered by “your favorite love ’ song”. The report on the Dance Revue netting $83.55 was most gratifying and a vote of thanks was extended to Miss Marilyn Brownlee and her mother. For her outstanding work dur ing her two years as president, Mrs. Warner McRoberts was pre sented with a gift by Mrs. Wil bert Revington with Mrs. Harold Hodgins giving the address, An invitation was read from the Clandeboye W.I. to join them in a bus trip to Hamilton July 14. Mrs. C. H. George reported on the Shakespearean plays and distributed the tickets purchased. It was decided to join the As-, sociation of Consumers. The July meeting will take the form of a picnic to be held 15 at the river flats. Mrs. Murray Hodgins led sing-song, accompanied by Erwin Scott. Three interesting papers were read, Mrs. Dave Park on “Canada”; Mrs. Harold Corbett on “What is wrong with grown-ups?”, and Mrs. Warner McRoberts on “How to Enjoy the Happiest Day of your Life.”, Re ports on tile District Annual, June 1, in Parkhill, were given by Mrs. Erwin Scott Murray Hodgins. Ivan Davis, 49, Dies At Home Funeral services for Ivan Davis who passed away at his home on Con. 4 Biddulph on Monday in his fiftieth year, were held from the C. Haskett & Son Funeral Home, Lucan, on Thursday with Rev. R. A. C. Mills of St. Pat rick’s Church, Saintsbury, officiat ing. Interment was in St. James’ Cemetery, Clandeboye. Mr. Davis was the son of Mrs. William Davis and the late Wil liam Davis. He farmed all his life on Con. 4, Biddulph. He is sur vived by his mother; one sister, Mrs. Murray Abbott; and one brother, Clarence L. Davis, all of Biddulph. First Star Tests At a meeting of the Lucan Cubs June 17, the following boys passed their First Star tests: Hugh Conlin, Paul Conlin, Frank lin Milnes, Harvey Hayes Harry Bond.and Niagara Tour On Wednesday, June 16, pupils of Grades 7 and 8, Lucan, and pupils of Grade 5 to 8 of Mrs. Conlin’s school (numbering 56) enjoyed a bus trip to Niaga ra Falls and Queenston Heights. A profusion of flowers lined the front of the church, and to gether with four canaries, made a pretty setting for the service. The new junior choir, making their first appearance, led in the music. The Sunday School, as sisted by Rev. E. M. Cook, had charge of the service under the direction of the superintendent, Mr. Alex Young. Leverne George read the scrip ture lesson and Miss Marie Lewis and Mr. Mel Culbert told stories. In former years the canaries did their best to drown out orghn and speaker, so quieter ones were chosen this year, but even these could not resist joining in when the wee tots sang their number. The centre section of the church was filled with the Sun day School pupils and 12 mem bers of the Anglican junior con gregation sat in a body at the side. Mrs. Dave Park directed the junior choir which was ac companied by Miss Reta Chown. Mr. Howard Kew provided the organ music and the chimes. The Explorers and leaders re port that already $13.25 has been realized from the recent coat-hanger collection and more is coining in daily. Anyone in the village or community who still has hangers, kindly contact Mrs. Murray Hodgins and help the Explorer work. Mr. and Mrs. Herb Stretton spent last weekend with relatives in Hensail and Brussels. Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell Haskett attended decoration service Birr on Sunday. Patrick Legg, the 1'4-month- old son of Mr. and Mrs. William Legg, of Granton, was admitted to St. Joseph’s Hospital with a fractured skull, the result of a fall down some steps at . his home. Mr. and Mrs. Wes Morley, of Ailsa Craig, spent last Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Hodg son, attending the anniversary service in the United Church in the morning and the memorial service in the afternoon. PATON Personal Items At a special vestry meeting on Wednesday evening, Rev. J. F. Wagland and members of St. James’ Church decided to pur chase a new oil-burner furnace to be installed in the early au tumn. During the month of July, the service at St. James’ Church will be at 11 a.m, D.S.T. each Sun day. Miss Marion Morton, teacher, and pupils of Clandeboye School enjoyed a bus trip to Toronto on Monday. They visited the parlia ment buildings, Queen’s Park, Old Fort York, Casa Loma and the zoo. Mr. Ernie Keown, of Grand Bend, spent Friday and Saturday with his sister, Mrs. Fred Simp son. Mrs. Fred Simpson spent Sun day with her daughter, Mrs. Wes Revington, and family in Lucan. At St. James' Church on Sun day, the rector, the Rev. J. F. Wagland, presented certificates to Marlene Harrison and Susy Mur- less for passing tests in the de partment of religious education.
