Mrs. Rus sel Finkbeiner presided for the program, when a story was told by Mrs. (Rev.) Parrott. Recita- tions, vocal solos and piano se lections were given by the child ren, after which they filed to the front and donated their mite boxes, in aid of missionary work. They were entertained with games on the church lawn and lunch was served. Children's Day was observed in the Evangelical Church on Sunday. Children occupied the choir loft in the morning, Eric and Sandra Finkbeiner sang a duet, Rev. Mohr addressed the children on "The Loaves and Fishes". A miscellaneous pro gram was presented in the eve ning with Gordon Ratz presiding. The church was beautifully de corated with flowers. Greeting Cards For Father’s Day Jack Smith JEWELLER Main Street Exeter Mrs. Henry Haist Mrs. Henry Haist died here on Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Edmond Hendrick, following a lengthy illness. The former Mary Martha Gaiser, she was 81 years of age and had lived in this community all her life. She and Mr. Haist marked the fiftieth anniversary of their marriage three years ago. She is survived by her hus band; four sons, Earl and Gordon of Crediton, Royal of Chicago, and Arthur of Grand Bend; and ope daughter, Mrs. (Lylg) Hen drick, who cared for her mother during her illness. Also surviving are two brothers, Mosers. William and John Gaiser of Crediton; two sisters, Mrs. Dora Gaiser of Pern ver, Colorado, and Mrs. Charles Koeltzow of Detroit; and seven grandchildren. Funeral was held on Wednes day. A brief service at Mr, Hen drick's home was followed by service in the Evangelical U.B. Church, conducted by the minis ter, the Rev. E. N. Mohr. Inter ment was in Crediton Cemetery. iDecoration Day will be ob served in Crediton Cemetery next Sunday, June 20. Members of the United Church School will hold the annual pic nic on Saturday, June 19, in Riverview Park. Rev. and Mrs. Mohr spent a few days last week in Toronto, with Mr. and Mrs. Earl Robin son, returning by way of Elmira where they visited with Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Beisel. Mr. and Mrs. James Fraser of Stratford spent the weekend with Mr. James Brock and attended the celebration at Centralia air port on Saturday. Mrs. T. J. Wilson of London visited last week with Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Woodall. Mr, and Mrs. Elgin Woodall and family of Royal Oak, Mich., visited on Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Woodall. Mr. and Mrs. George Neal and family, of West Lorne, were Sun day visitors with Mr, and Mrs, Lawrence Hili. Mr. and Mrs. Mervyn Webb have returned from their honey moon and spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Hill. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Schenk and Julie of Toronto visited over the weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. Schenk. Mr. Robert Wolfe of Sarnia is holidaying with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Wolfe. Mr. Royal Haist, of Chicago, spent a few days last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hendrick. Mr. Howard Beaver, of Hamil ton, visited over the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Beaver. Party Celebrates Eightieth Birthday A surprise party was held on Friday in honor of Mr. James Harrison, of Exeter, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Allen Johns. Thirty guests gathered in celebration of Mr. Harrison's eightieth birthday. The evening was spent in pro gressive euchre with Mrs. Jack Williamson and Mr. James Oke winning prizes. Mr. Bob Rennie and Marion Oke entertained with old time music. Included in the guests who gathered around the birthday table were Mr. Harrison’s fam ily, his grandchildren, six sisters and two brothers. Results of races were: girls, 12 and under, Nancy Latta, Car ol Boyle; boys, Clayton Kooy, Jim Hotson; young ladies, Bev erly Neil, Nancy Latta; married i ladies, Iona Terry, Helen Mac Donald, married men, Maurice MacDonald, Maurice Neil; kick ing slipper, Mrs. Karl Boyle, Gladys Neil; bean guessing, Ver- da Wilson. Largest family present was Mr. and Mrs. Don Hotson and family, of Windsor; longest mar ried couple, Mr. and Mrs. Frank C. The strawberry supper will be held Tuesday evening, June 22. Mrs. (Rev.) Kenneth Yohan Masch, a teacher of Isabella Thoburn College, India, will be the guest speaker at a special meeting of missionary interest to be held in Thames Road Church on Sunday evening, June 20 at 8.15. Members of the First Grand, Bend Wolf Cub Pack invited their parents to attend a recent meeting when a number of Cubs received their First Star and others were invested. The W.A. of St. John’s-by-tlie- Lake are holding a home baking and parcel post sale at the town hall on Wednesday, June 16, in the afternoon and evening. Par cels are being sent in by parcel post, which will be sold as. they arrive through the mail, which tends to be quite an interesting feature. Love-FoiTCSt Reunion The Love-Forrest reunion was held Saturday at Turnbull’s Grove at which about 100 at tended. The traditional dinner of chicken pie was served. Mr. Bob Love, of Thedford, was elected as president tor the committee for the 1955 reunion and Mr, Fergus Turnbull as secretary treasurer. The United Church Sunday School picnic will be held at Turnbull's Grove on June 25, Personal Items Mrs. Pearl Allison spent a few days last week with her daugh ter, Mrs. Sinclair, in London. Mr. Ronald Scott, of London, is spending two weeks' vacation at his cottage here. Mr. and Mrs. Jack MacKin non and daughter, Miss Mary, of St. Thomas, have arrived for the summer season at their cottage in Beach O’ Pines. Mrs. Ebert, of Ailsa Craig, is spending the summer season at "Aberdovey”, Grand Bend. Mrs. R. E. Werry was called to her home in Winnipeg where her mother died. Mr. Vern May, who has been visiting his sister, Mrs. Harold Chamberlain, in Detroit, for the past two weeks, has arrived back in town. Mr. Harley Oakes, of Detroit, spent the weeeknd with Mr. and Mr3. Fred Wilson. James Dalton, town reeve, at tended the County Council in Sarnia last week. The Reeves of Lambton County held their annual picnic at Grand Bend Wednesday. Mrs. Busby, of London, is spending the sumnier at her cot tage in Oakwood. Jim Dalton, Jr., has arrived home for the summer vacation from St. Michael's cottage in To ronto. Mrs. Myrtle Bossenberry, who has been visiting with friends and relatives in town for the past few weeks, left for her cot tage at Point Clark on Sunday.
