Sixteen farmers from the area swarmed onto the land with equipment to plow, manure, harrow and pack 15 acres to help Mr. Oestricher, who has been handicapped this spring with an injured leg. He fell on a chain saw while assisting at a wood-cutting bee for Dashwood E.U.B. Church. Above, Ralph Weber and Jack Gaiser load a spreader. —T-A Photo John Luther, 83, Farmer 50 Years Dy The Dashwood CoiTCspondent John Luther died at his resi­ dence on the Blue Water High­ way near Grand Bend on Thurs­ day, May 20, in his eighty-fourth year after an illness of four weeks. He had farmed over fifty years and was born in McGilli- vary. His wife, the former Martha Bloomfield, died 23 years ago. Bedard Dies In Brantford By The Dashwood Correspondent Mrs. Jerome Bedard, the for­ mer Theresa Cantin, wife of Jer­ ome Bedard, died suddenly at Brantford, May 18, in her twenty- first year. Besides her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Fran- coise; her mother, Mrs, Valerie Canton, of St. Joseph’s; three sisters, Mrs. Victor Brisson and Valerie, Detroit; Mrs, George Du­ charme, Dublin; six brothers, Napoleon, Oliver, Eugene, Peter and Jean Paul, of Detroit, and Andre, of St, Josephs. The body rested at the T. Har­ ry Hoffman funeral home until Wednesday noon when it wag re­ moved to the home of her mo­ ther, Requiem mass was sung at St. Peter’s Church, St. Josephs, Friday morning by Father Rt, Mon. Bourdeau assisted by Fa­ ther Moore and the parish priest from Goderich. Interment was in the adjoining cemetery.
