Women’s Institute Mrs. Ervin Rader conducted the business at the February meeting of the Dashwood 'Wo­ men’s Institute and Mrs. Charles Snell was in the chair for the social hour. A Canadian industry was named in answer to the troll call and one new member was enrolled. Mrs. Harold Kellerman, Mrs, Art AlJemand and Mrs. Syd Baker were appointed to bring in a slate of ■officers for the new year. The public speaking con­ test for the school children will be held in May. Three of our new Canadians, Mrs. Wiersma, Mrs. Yagar and Mrs. Van Diepen sang two num­ bers. Mrs. Anderson, recently arrived from Ireland, gave a humorous reading. Mrs. Emil Becker commented on the motto, “Support Canadian products and Canadian industry Will support you.” Mrs. Ed Gill, -of Grand Bend, demonstrated the making of alu­ minium trays. Euchre Party The Dashwood W.I. held their euchre Friday night in the school with a fair attendance. There were 12 tables in play. Bernice Restemayer drew the ticket for the door prize which was won by Mr. William Mason. Other winners were Milfred Merner and Mrs. Milfred Merner, Harold Kellerman and Mrs. Herb Wein. Personal Items Mr. and Mrs. Earl Telfer and children, of Brantford, spent the weekend with the latter’s par­ ents, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Keller. Mr. and Mrs. J. Barr and daughter, of London, spent the weekend with the latter’s par­ ents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Stire. Mr, and Mrs. Leonard Reste­ mayer and family spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Taylor, of Waterloo. Mr. Fred Weiburg celebrated his birthday on Sunday with a family gathering. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Weiburg and Mr. and Mrs. Garnet Wei­ burg and family, of Waterloo, were Sunday visitors here. The Walther League of Zion Lutheran Church .enjoyed a theatre party Monday evening at the Lyric Theatre, Exeter, after which they returned to the church where Rev. and Mrs. L. Higenell had hot dogs and coffee prepared for them. Personal Items On Wednesday night, March 10, the monthly meeting of the Women’s Institute will be held in Die Legion Hall. Mrs. A. Shir­ ray and Mrs. L. Chapman are hostesses. Mrs. Harry Caldwell, of Kippen, will speah do the ladies and Mr. Robert Bruce Cameron will show views. Mrs. Fred Beer has returned home after a pleasant visit with Mr. and Mrs. Perce Phillips and Carolyn, of Toronto, and with Mrs, Janet Peck, Hamilton. Miss Eleanor Cook of Victoria Hospital, London, spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. N. E, Cook. Miss Katie Scott, who under­ went a major operation at St. Joseph’s Hospital, London, on Saturday, is doing as well as can be expected. Mrs. William Pepper returned home last week from Scott Mem­ orial Hospital, Seaforth. Mr. Laird Mickle left last Sat­ urday for St. Louis, Missouri, where he is attending a conven­ tion. Mr. Alvin Warrener and daugh­ ter Ruth Ann, of Pontiac, Mich., were weekend guests with Mr. and Mrs. Manley Jinks. The Misses Betty Mickle, Mar­ ion Irwin and Phyllis Erskine, of London, spent Sunday with the former’s family. The annual meeting and elec­ tion of the Kensall bowling club will be held in the council cham­ bers Friday, March 5 at 8 p.m. At the monthly meeting of the Hen sail Branch of the Canadian Legion held Monday evening in the Legion Hall, the meeting re­ affirmed their motion of last November supporting artificial ice in the Hensail arena. The president, Don Dayman, presid­ ed. Guides Observe Special Week Carmel Y.i’.s. Carmel Y. P.S. met in the Sunday School rooms Monday night with Edith Love in the chair. Alex Hoggarth conducted the worship and the society di­ vided into groups for the first chapter of thei new study book, “•Rhe Church iu Action”. The treasurer’s report reveal­ ed that the sum of $27 had been realized from the recent concert. Plans were approved for the installation of an electric clock in the Sunday School rooms. The Society decided to sponsor g crokinole party in March. Personal Items Mrs. Pearl Case, of London, visited with friends here last week. Mr. and Mrs. Ron Moir, of Strathroy, spent the weekend with relatives and friends here. Mrs. Frank Harburn and in­ fant son returned home from Clinton General Hospital this week. Mrs. Gordon Troyer, who has been receiving treatment in Vic­ toria Hospital, London, under­ went an operation and is doing as well as can be expected. Mr. and Mrs. Guy Bedard, of London, visited this week with Mrs. Bedard's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Bell. Mr. Jack Faber is able to be out again after undergoing an appendix operation in Clinton General Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Bell spent the weekend in Detroit. Mr. and Mrs. Morley Sanders, Ted and Fred, of Exeter, visited recently with Mrs. Sander’s par­ ents, Mr. and Mrs. George Glenn, and Mrs. Emma Shepherd, Fred Peters, who has been a patient in Victoria Hospital, London, for the past three ■months with injuries following & ■serious accident is able now to sit in a wheel chair, and is^ery bright and cheerful. HODGINS On Sunday, February 21, as part of their Girl Guide and Brownie -observance of .Scout Week, the Brownies and Guides of Hensall attended the church of their choice in full uniform. Later in the day, the Guides drove to Exeter to a Guides’ Own Service held in Trivitt Memorial Parish Hall. In this service only Guides participated. On the following day, Monday, all Guides and Brownies wore their uniforms throughout the day to mark the birthday of Lord Baden-Powell. This was called “Thinking Day”. That evening, the Legion Auxiliary of Hensall entertained the Brownies and Guides and their mothers and the local association. The party was well attended. Topics From Thames Road By MRS. Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Miller and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Harris were in charge of the evening. Mrs. Moores led in a sing-song. Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Harris were in charge of the worship service, Mr. Harold Baker, assistant agriculture representative, showed slides and gave a very interesting talk. The baby is improved and was ahle to return home again. Mr. and Mrs. Max Hodgins and Mr .and Mrs. Gordon Young, of Greenway, went to Petrolia on Sunday and called on Mrs. Vinia Hodgins who is very ill at pre­ sent. Mr. and Mrs. Hector Murray, of Exeter, visited on Sunday at the home of Maurice Murray. Mr. and Mrs. Newton Hayter, Barbara and Linda attended the Anglican Church service at Grand Bend on Sunday.
