According to Wednesday’s standing, the odds favor Lucan and Exeter for. those two last playoff spots. The Irish are currently all alone in fifth place, four points ■ ed two goals to the Pontiac’s to tal and a third tally was illegal but the referees counted it. Because of this, the loss was a moral victory for the tribe who held the powerful second-place club at bay most of the route. Skating and checking hard, the' locals tied Goderich 1-1 at the end of the first and allowed a slim 3-2 margin in the second, The game was spasmodically fast, indifferent, rough, clean, wild and mild. At times it ap peared the players would break out in a melee of anger and there were spots when everybody was playing the part of gentlemen. Fifteen penalties marred the fray, with Frank Anderson tak ing a 10-minute misconduct be cause of a mixup with some rink side fans. Scores On Long Rush Doug Cruickshank put the Pon- tiacs out front with a long rush at 2.22 of the first. He swept by the Mohawk defense at his own blueline and coasted in on Turner unmolested. Al McGillivray tied the count at 13.24 when he broke up a Goderich attack, skated past net- minder Jerry Hesse from the side and fired the biscuit in the cor ner of the twine. Mohawks short two men. The third game, however, is with the lowly Byron club. Should Lang ford’s lads lose two and win one they will end up with a 9-9 re cord. Although Exeter and Hepeall are tied, Hensall has a handicap of two more losses. Could Tie For Sixth If Exeter defeats Hensall, By ron and St. Marys, the Mohawks will get an even split of 9-9 on the season. On the other hand, if Hensall defeats Exeter and St. Marys in its re m a in i n g two games, the Finks would chalk up an 8-10 record and tie the Mo hawks. St. Marys Alerts will have to win at least two remaining games to make it possible for them to overtake Hensall. Remaining' games for the six clubs are; Lucan: Byron, Forest and Strathroy, Zurich: Ilderton and St. Marys. Strathroy: Lucan and Gode rich. Exeter: Goderich, Hensall, By ron and St. Marys. Hensall: Exeter and St. Marys. St. Marys: Exeter, Hensall and Zurich. In the play during the last week, Forest won two games to take a commanding lead on the top spot.
