Thompson & Sons HENSALL Mrs. Norman Hockey won $85 in a contest called “Big Top” over CKNX Wednesday. Three weeks ago, Mrs. Hockey won a TV set in a musical contest over the radio. Mr. Norman R. Fletcher, of Haney, B.C., a retired merchant from Saskatchewan, and who was born at Kirkton, spent a day recently visiting relatives in Exe­ ter. Mr Fletcher notes many changes in Exeter and surrounds ing country. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Gossman, Dashwood, returned home Mon­ day after spending a month out west. They motored out to Bran­ don, Man., where Mrs. Gossman visited a cousin whom she hadn’t seen for 28 years, while Bill hitchhiked up to Lake Louise. He visited liis son, Kenneth, at Lethbridge. Mrs. Bert Ostland and Mrs. Elmer Reeder attended the wed­ ding in Guelph Saturday of Miss Alice De Vries and Mr. John Kruizelbrink. Miss De Vries for­ merly worked in the cafeteria at the high school with Mrs. Ost­ land and Mrs. Reeder. Harry De Vries and Rom Van der Bosch, Exeter, also attended the wed­ ding. Recently it was incorrectly re­ ported that Jim Case, Toronto, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Case, was visiting at his home here. Jim is a cousin, not a son, of Mr. and Mrs. Case, Stephen council passed the Dietrich drain extension for sur­ vey, plan, specifications and re­ port at its September meeting. Miss Betty Allison, who is em­ ployed with the Bell Telephone in London, spent her holidays With her sister Margaret in Cal­ gary. Mrs. Clara Hackney, of Exeter, and Miss Shirley Harper of Cromarty are spending a few days with Mrs. Netta Robinson and Luella in Detroit. Mr. and Mrs. William Schroe­ der, Reg, Glenn and Harry drove to Ottawa last week to attend the graduation of Uel Schroeder who is with the R.C.M.P. He left for Vancouver on Friday where he has been posted. Mr. and Mrs, Ed. Westcott find Helen and Mr. and Mrs. Ron Stephan of London spent a week’s holidays in Port Elgin. Miss Maxine Parsons of Lon­ don spent the weekend at her home.
