A chicken dinner was served at l?:30' after which Mr, Philip Hern, acting president, conduct­ ed a short business meeting and officers for the coming year were elected as follows: ‘ president, Lloyd Hern; first vice-president, Wellington Hern; secretary-trea­ surer, Marilyn Hern. Ashworth LUCANPHONE 70 For Better Exchange Vows At Brinsley Church Ferns and gladioli formed the pretty candlelight setting at Brinsley United Church on Satur­ day, September 5 at 7 p.m. where Patricia Jean Maguire and Wil­ liam E. Rowley exchanged vows before the Rev. Harold F. Currie in a double ring ceremony. The bride is the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Maguire of Ailsa Craig and the groom is the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Earnest Rowley of Paris. Mrs. Art Erskine sang “Be­ cause” and “The Lord’s Prayer” accompanied by Miss Ruth Ann Plumstead of Paris. The bride, escorted down the jaisle of white carpet and given in marriage by her father, looked charming in a gown of tulle over satin with French lace peplum, Peter Pan collar and long bishop sleeves with tulle ruffle at the wrist. She wore a seed pearl headdress and a floor-length veil and carried a white prayer book covered with orchids and trail­ ing stephanotis. Mrs. Don Lucas, who attended her sister as matron of honor, wore a strapless gown of cham­ pagne tulle with French lace panels and bolero. Her headdress was of champagne net and she carried Johanna Hill roses and trailing ivy. The bridesmaids were Miss Joyce Rowley, sister of the groom, Maguire, who mauve strapless ma pleat tiers with matching gloves. They carried tawny gold roses and trailing ivy. Miss Glenyce Bainton, of Blyth, as junior bridesmaid, wore a green gown identical to those of the bridesmaids and she carried yellow roses and trailing ivy. Little Laurie Ford, niece of the groom, was a winsome flower girl wearing organdy over yellow taffeta with headdress and mitts to match. She carried a nosegay of yellow roses. Maguire, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer. The groom was attended by Roy Hanlon as 'Fest man. Phil and Fred Maguire and Ken Mac- Arthur were ushers. Ruth Duncan and Jessie Mac­ Gregor of West Lorne, cousins of the bride, dressed in their kilts, piped the newlyweds front the church. Receiving at the reception at Lucan bride’s George M. Parkinson George M. Paskinson, well- known resident of con. 10, Blanshard Township, passed away in St. Marys Memorial Hospital on’ September 1 following two weeks of illness with heart Con­ dition. Mr. Parkinson had been in apparent good health until a fortnight ago when he collapsed while engaged in a lawn bowling match 011 the St. Marys greens. He was born on the Townline west of Whaleu on September 25, 187 9, son of the late John Parkinson and wife Eliza Gun­ ning. Following his marriage 47 years ago, he has resided on lot G, con. 10, Blanshard. Mrs. Par­ kinson predeceased 18 months ago. He was a member United Church and is two sons, Ray, on stead, Ralph, of London, and two daughters, Mrs. Herman Foster, Granton, Mrs. Don Mar­ shall, London. A daughter Pearl predeceased him many years ago. He also has two brothers and two sisters, Harvey and Frank, Blanshard township, Mrs. Chittick and Miss Adelaide, Granton. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon from Marriott Funeral Home by Rev. G. C. Raymer. Pallbearers were Jack Duffield, William Hodgson, F. C.
