The Conservation Council, rep resenting some 180,000 Ontario . citizens interested in agriculture, forestry and wildlife, is a non profit, non-political organization whose purpose it is to assist in the co-ordination of all conserva tion efforts in the province. The report, containing 51 commendations and a survey regional needs, is directed pri marily to Premier Leslie Frost, and to his ministers of agricul- “FOR HEALTH’S SAKE, ROLLER SKATE!” s Roller Rink Two Blocks West of « Southcott Bros. This report, which represents approximately 3,000 man hours of exhaustive research, summar izes the findings of 36 eminent experts on soil and water prob lems in Ontario. It has taken some 10 months to prepare. More Co-ordination It recommends that Hon. Fletcher Thomas, minister of agriculture, who has been named Co-ordinator of Conservation in Ontario, be enabled to assume that role in fact. Appointment of an inter-departmental conserva tion committee is suggested, with a chairman to be appointed by Mr. Thomas from the Civil Service, together with a profes sionally trained secretary to the committee. Additional estimates should be passed to enable the committee to function. The report suggests that the Research Council of Ontario should be the co-ordinating body in all research on conservation matters in this province. Staffs, accomodation and equipment of existing research institutions in the province dealing with -con servation should be materially increased, i Accidents Accidents Accidents Fatalities Additional Town Topics may be found on Page 7. from Jan, 1 to Aug. 20 ... from Aug. 13 to Aug. 20 causing extensive injuries Accident Is Just A Word Until You Have One Town Topics Items of Social and Personal Interest In and Around Exeter The Times-Advocate is always pleased to publish these items. vVe and our readers are interested in you and your friends.
