Mr. and, Mrs. Lloyd Cushman and Michael, of Exeter, spent Sunday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Jud Dykeman. Mr, Herman Racey, Stratford, has .been spending the past two weeks with Mr. and Mrs. Nor man Jaques. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Brock and family and Mr. and Mrs. Milton Brock spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bailey, Win chelsea. The Sunshine Mission Band leaders, Mrs. Norman Brock, Mrs. Harold Hern and Mrs. Gerald Hern were in charge of the program for the joint meet ing of W.M.S., Mission Band and Baby Band of Zion Church, held at the school Monday evening. Guest speaker was Mrs. Horton, of Granton. The W.M.S. served lunch.Misses Ann Sutheringham, of St. Marys, and Elaine Spence, of Metropolitan, are spending a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Melville Hern. Mr. and Mrs. Allan Jaques and Ray spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Jim Knox, of Stratford. Mrs. Gunning is spending a few days with Mrs. Allan Jaques. Mrs. Hodgins is spending a few days with Mrs. Wellington Brock. Thames Road Enjoys Party The Thames Road Sunday School picnic was held at the Lions Park, Seaforth, on Satur day Evening, June 27. Owing to the good haying weather, the attendance was small. Supper was served at seven o’clock fol lowed by the sports of which Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jeffery and Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Gardiner were in charge. The results of the races were as follows: children 4 and under, Sharon Passmore; girls, 4 to 6, Diane Stone and Caroline Gack- stetter; boys, 4 to 6, Billy Snow and Ronald Clarke; girls, 7 to 9, Helen Ballantyne; boys, 7 to 9, Douglas Jeffery and Earl Gack- stetter; boys, 10 to 12, Lome Gackstetter and Gerald Gack- stetter; rolling the orange with nose, Douglas Jeffery; shoe scramble, ladies, Mrs. Arnold Cann; shoe scramble, men, John Pym; married ladies, pulling beans on paper plate, Mrs. Arnold Cann; married men, bean race, Aimer Passmore; men kicking the slipper in box, Gordon Stone; marshmallow race, Mrs. Roy Ballantyne, A couple of relay races were played with Rey. Hay Schools - Visit Niagara Falls On Wednesday, ♦lune 24, the pupils and teachers of four Hay Township schools enjoyed an out ing to the Niagara Peninsula. Schools and their teachers mak ing the trip were: No. 2 Hay, Mrs. A. Ellis; No. 3 Hay, Mrs. D, Koehler; No. G Hay, Mrs. Nor minton; No. 10 Hay, Mr. Reid. Places of interest visited were the Welland Canal, where two ships were seen being passed through the locks, Niagara-on- the-Lake, Navy Hall, Fort George and Fort Erie. The trip was climaxed with a view of Horseshoe Falls under colored lights. Teachers and pupils reported an ideal outing. Town Topics Mrs. James Irving, Grenfell, Sask., is visiting with Mr, and Mrs. Alf. Coates and family, Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Cornish left Sunday to visit their daugh ter and son-in-law, Sgt. and Mrs. H. A. Woods, Summerside, P.E.I. Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Pollen are making their .home in Petrolia for several weeks while Mr. Pollen is supervising work at the Canadian Canners plant. Sports were enjoyed in the afternoon. After supper a ball game was played., During the supper Mrs. Lucille Sparling was presented with a table and table mirror from her pupils of Win- chelsea School. Winners of races were as fol lows: girls, G and under, Anne Johns, Margaret Johns; boys, 6 and under, Edward Johns, Rex Valentyne; girls, 9 and under, Frances Johns, Betty Anne Ste phen; boys, 9 and under, Wayne Prance. A dress-up baseball game was then enjoyed and caused a great lot of fun. Sunday School Anniversary The Elimville Sunday School anniversary services were held on Sunday, June 28 with Rev. C. G. Scott, of Blyth, as guest preacher. The children's choir supplied the music for the morning service and the adult choir in the evening, assisted by the male quartette rendering two numbers. The pulpit was beautifully adorned with pansies, roses and peonies.. Visitors in the community were: Rev. C. G. The pupils of Winchelsea and iZion schools, teachers, Mr. and Mrs. Sparling and several ladies enjoyed a bus trip to Toronto last Wednesday. They visited the zoo, Parliament Buildings, Casa Loma and Simpsons. Miss Shirley Jaques, of Zion, spent a couple of days with Master Larry Skinner, Master Bobby Reilly is Visit ing a couple of weeks with liis grandparents, Mr. and Mts. Jack Carroll, ih Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Laurie Stephen, of London, spent the weekend with Mr, and Mrs. Charles Ste phen and Mr, and Mrs. Austin Dilling and attended the Pell reunion at Seaforth Park on Saturday.
