WMS Entertains
For Birthday
Carmel Presbyterian Church,
lovely with profusions of summer

day afternoon, June 11, for the
annual birthday party of the
Women’s Missionary Society who
entertained as their special guests

ian Church, Exeter. United
Church and St. Paul’s Anglican
Church, Hensall. Mrs. J. B. Fox
took the chair and extended the
welcome and the program wa*>
arranged by Mrs. J. Bonthron
and Mrs. Fox.
The guest speaker, Mrs. J. W.
Fulton, of Brussels,
for her theme, “Why Missions

on people to spread the Gospel.

the monument by Rev. J. B.

win. Following the service mem
bers proceeded to Hensall Union
Cemetery where flags were placed
on the graves of departed mem
bers of the Legion and I.O.O.F.
Rev. Fox conducted a short ser
vice and Ed. Corbett gave the
Oddfellow charge. Rev. W. J.
Rogers was guest speaker. Pro
ceeding to McTaggart’s Cemetery
the same procedure took place
there. Last Post and Reveille
were sounded at all three ser
vices.

in the Legion Hall Wednesday

The Women’s ilissionary So
ciety and Women’s Association
of Chiselhurst United Church met
at the home of Mrs. Calvin Hor
ton, Tuesday afternoon, June 9,
with a good attendance. Mrs.
Harold Parker opened the meet
ing with the singing of the
theme song. Mrs. Ed. Chappel led
the devotional period. Mrs. John
Glenn read the Scripture lesson
arid prayer was offered by Mrs.
Chapple. The minutes of the last
meeting were read by Mrs. C.
Coleman. The Study Book ‘‘Along
African Trails” was in charge of
Mrs. Tom Brintnell and Mrs.
Clarence Coleman. This ended
the reading of the study -book. As
there are no meetings for July
and August it was decided to
have a new study book ready for
the September meeting:
Mrs. Russel Brock contributed
a reading. Mrs. Robert Boyce
gave Temperance notes. The
meeting was then turned over to
Mrs. R. T. McDonald in charge
of the W.A. Reports of the last
meeting were read by Mrs. Ed.

The annual Love-Forrest re
union was held Saturday, June
13 at Turnbull’s Grove. The
weather was ideal and over 100
attended a delicious chicken din
ner, prepared by the ladies.
Members of the clan attended
from Toronto, Halifax, Michigan
and surrounding district.
