PRINCE CHARLES PROVIDES PRIZE CAMERA SHOT — One of the best photographs
to emerge from the hundreds taken during the coronation ceremony of Elizabeth II is this
one featuring Prince Charles. Most of the time he watched in wide-eyed fascination at the
pageant inside Westminster, But there, is a limit to even a little boy’s curiousity and here
the young prince appears bored with it all, Perhaps he is thinking of his pets and his toys.

Wed Sixty Years
Saturday, June 13 marked a
very special day in the lives of
Mr. and Mrs. J Charles Burt, of
Gore Bay, Manitoulin Island,
who at present ar© with their
daughter Edith at Dashwood
with whom they have spent the
winter months of the past 10
years. It marked the sixtieth
anniversary of their marriage.
The couple were married 60
years ago in St. Wilfred’s Church,
Haywards Heath, Sussex, Eng
land. The day following their
marriage they embarked on the
steamer Vancouver, sailing for
Canada. Upon arrival in Canada
they came directly to Manitoulin
Island, landing at Manitowaning.
The journey was continued with
team and .buckboard over cordu
roy roads, eventually arriving at
their destination.
After enjoying the hospitality
of some friends for a time, they
purchased some land near the
site of their son’s fox ranch.
After two years residence there
they came to Gordon township
and in a short time became per
manently located in 19'0'3 on the
farm their younger son now
works, and where they still have
a home they go to in the sum
mer months.
During these 60 years practi
cally all of their time has been
spent on Manitoulin except for
a four-montli visit to their home
land in 1925, sailing on the
Empress of France; and the
winter months of the past 10
years spent with their daughter
at Dashwood.
Of their family of five child
ren, three are living, James of
the bank of Montreal, Minde-
moya, Alfred, of Gore Bay, on
the farm, and Edith, 'Mrs. Ed

There are also seven grand-
childen and three great grand
children.
The festivities commenced
with a family reunion dinner
Friday night on the arrival of
their sons, their wives, the
youngest grandchild and oldest
great grandchild and a very
happy time spent. Mr. and Mrs.
Burt were then “at home” to
their friends Saturday, June 13,
during the afternoon and eve
ning. Many called to offer their
good Wishes on this auspicious
occasion. Besides those calling in
person a great many cards,
messages and gifts were re
