The town’s deficit amounted to $5,932.21 while the school’s deficit was $4,056.03. All the other hoards in the town showed a surplus. Public Utilities Commission had an ex­ cess of $6,719.13 in its hydro account and $21,63.70 in the water system account. Other surpluses were: Ceme­ tery commission, $1,587.35; Pub­ lic School, $122.95; Library Board, $312.62; Community Centres Board (Dec. 8 to Dec. 31, 1952), $188.82; Becreation- al Parks Board (Jan. 1 to Dec. 7, 1952), $1,931.80; Recreation­ al council, $1,649.63. GRAND BEND The official board of the Grand Bend United Church pass­ ed a resolution Sunday opposing the introduction of liquor for sale in any form in the village. We extend our sympathy to the bereaved family. Mr. and Mrs. Filmer Chappel and family visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Peth­ ick, Dublin. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cadiek and Sharon, London, and Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Russell and Mar­ garet Jean were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Scott on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. J. E*> Storey and children visited with Mr. and Mrs. Orville Storey, -Seaforth, on Sunday. Mrs. Duncanson is spending a few days with her daughter in Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Currie, of London, visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Mac Lamond. Duncan Colquhoun The sympathy of the commun­ ity is extended to the family of the late Mr. Duncan Colquhoun, who passed away at his home at Lot 3 on the Eight Concession of Hibbert Township. He was a life-long resident of Hibbert and was in his seventy­ seventh year. He was a son of the late Thomas Colquhoun and his wife, Isabella McConolie Col­ quhoun, and they farmed on the homestead which had been set­ tled by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Colquhoun. On June 19, 1907, he was married to Eva M. Dow, who survives him. He is also survived by one son, Thomas L., on the home farm; three daughters, Jean, at home, Mrs. James Scott (Alline) and Mrs. Gordon Scott (Hazel), both of Hibbert; and 10 grandchildren and one brother, Mr. Arthur Col­ quhoun. One brother and three sisters died earlier. He was a member of Roy’s Church and interment was made in Roy’s cemetery on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. W. J. Moores of Roy’s Church officiating. Colin Gilfillan and Wib Batten spent a few days the first of the week with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Denham, of Sarnia. Mrs. Harry Armstrong and Janice, of Hens^ll, spent Wed­ nesday with Mrs. Wib Batten. Mrs. Batten returned home with them for a. few days. The W.M.S, and W.A. held their monthly meeting at the home of Mrs. Fred Walters on Wednesday. Mrs. Colin Gilfillan and Mrs. Ivan Brock attended a demon­ stration at the home of Mrs. William Routly, of Elimville. on Thursday evening. A number from the community attended the variety concert, in Elimville United Church Friday evening. Although the community had a hail storm on Thursday no serious damage was done.
