DAVIS An enjoyable evening was spent in the Parish Hall of St. Patrick’s Church on Friday, May 1, when Mrs. Harry Carroll and Mrs. Murray Abbott entertained some 90 relatives and friends at a miscellaneous shower in honor of Miss M. McIntyre and Mr. Ar­ thur Abbott, whose marriage takes place May 9 in Glencoe. After a short program with Mr. Gerald Godbolt of Centralia as jovial chairman, Miss McIntyre and Mr. Abbott were escorted to a decorated seat. Mrs. Harry Car­ roll read a well worded address and Mrs. Flannigan and Miss A. Davis, cousins of the groom-to- be, assisted the bride-elect with the many gifts. Mr. Abbott re­ plied and thanked all who had helped to make the evening so pleasant. Lunch was served and all en­ joyed a social hour. Personal Items Mrs. Hugh Carroll has been moved to St. Joseph’s Hospital, London. Leslie Greenlee, young son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Greenlee, choked on a peanut on Friday evening and was X-rayed at Vic­ toria Hospital, London, at time of writing he seems to be im­ proved. For three years he served as deputy-reeve <(of the township and for five years as councillor. He was a member of the Shipka United Church and for a number of years was an elder and superintendent of the Sunday School. He spent several years in Minnesota and Michigan. Surviving are his wife, the former Lida Orser; two sons, Thomas, at home; John, of Toronto; three daughters, (Martha) Mrs. don McNair, Clandeboye; red) Mrs. Ed. Duncan, Stratford; (Ruth) Mrs. Harry Sheppard, of Stephen Township; two brothers, Arthur, of Melita, Man.; Wesley, of Hindsville, Alta., and two sisters, Mrs. Hugh McLeod, of Belleville, and Mrs. Walter Bax­ ter, of Parkhill. The funeral, Tuesday after­ noon was held from the Shipka United Church and was largely attended. Rev. R. C. Parrott of­ ficiated assisted by Rev. Mrs. Cann accompanied them as far as New York.
