The building, formerly occu­ pied by the Bell Telephone Com­ pany, has been completely ren- novated for the display of cloth­ ing. Modern display counters and stock shelves feature the attrac­ tive store. Mrs. Boyle has had considerable experience in the retail trade and she is well qualified to serve the women in the district in the clothing line. Attractive Store Feature of the new store is its attractiveness. Modern, window­ display cabinets in natural- finished birch provide a smart setting for the showing of mer­ chandise. Cupboards and stock shelves are also of attractive birch. The store is painted in a. soft, pastel shade which presents a bright and clean look. A well- lighted three-angle mirror is provided for customers. Dressing rooms are installed in the rear of the store to enable ladies to try on merchandise. These two progressive business­ men purchased the men’s cloth­ ing stora from Mr. W. W. Taman four years ago. Since then, they have thoroughly remodelled the building into one of the most modern clothing stores in West­ ern Ontario. Both are veterans of the sec­ ond World War and both are active in community activities. Len McKnight was born and raised in the Brucefield commun­ ity and spent his early life the farm. He was educated Clinton Collegiate. Prior to the war, Len was gaged in the farm implement business in Exeter. The merchandise offered in­ cludes hosiery, lingerie, sweaters, dresses, ready-to-wear and made- to-measure suits, skirts, slacks, sport coats, shortie coats, blouses and handbags. The store is located on the west side of main street in the building formerly occupied by the Bell Telephone Company. Friendly and. courteous service will be the business policy of the new store. He started his music career at 15 when he joined the Dashwood Band under the leader­ ship of Ted Walper. After two years with the orchestra he moved to where he was man of the qualifying as maker. Norm spent the service—R.C.E.. turn, he was employed at Graham Arthur’s service station as book­ keeper for three years before joining Len McKnight in the clothing business. Norm, his wife Irene, and two daughters, Sandra and Linda, live on Sanders Street, Exeter. He is a member of several social organizations, likes alley bowl­ ing, and is a member of the T-Iuronla Male Chorus, Male Quartette and the Exeter Citi­ zens Band. Len is married to the former Mabel Robinson, of Clinton, and they have three children—San­ dra 16, Dean 10 and Barry 5. Active in the community, Len is a past president of the Exeter Legion, a past Noble Grand of the I.O.O.F., a member of the Lions Club and a member of the Masonic Lodge. Norm Walper was born at Dashwood and at the age of five, moved with his parents to Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Walper’s farm, two and one half miles north of Dashwood. He. was educated there and worked on the farm until the age of 20. He is proud of his association with the farm and says they were the best years of his life.
