The condition of Mrs. E.
Rumble of Clinton, seriously
jured in a head-on crash Sunday
night on No. 4 Highway, one
mile north of Clinton, w*as re
ported satisfactory at Clinton
Hospital on Tuesday. Mrs. Rum
ble, who is the mother of Mrs.
S. Rannie, and Mrs. J, Anderson,
suffered severe head lacerations
in the crash.

Recreation Committee
A special meeting of the
Council was held on Wednesday
evening, April 22, to consider
the establishment of a Recrea
tion. Committee and by-laws
thereto. The matter of fire pro
tection. for Hay Township was
also discussed.
Mr. R. E. Secord, of London,
community programmes director,
was present and explained the
work of the Recreation Commit
tee and the financing of it. Dele
gates were present from the
Women's Institute, Ladies Auxil
iary to the Legion, Canadian
Legion and the Chamber of Com
merce and they all stated they
were right behind the establish
ment of a committee and were
willing to make donations to it.
A by-law was passed establish
ing a Recreation Committee com

Mrs. Lillie Johnson received
word of the sudden death of her
son-in-law, Lawrence Gilliene,
46, of Hamilton, who died at his
home on Sunday with a heart
condition. He was a native of
London and is survived by his
widow, the former Dorothy John
son, of Goderich, and five child
ren, the youngest three years of
age.
