Exeter Bride-Elect Honored By Friends Several showers have been given in honor of Miss Lillie Miller, January bride-elect. Last Tuesday night girl friends entertained at a dinner party in London in her honor and later at the home of Miss Mary Gardiner, presented her with a gift. On Thursday night, relatives met at tlie home of Mr. and Mrs. Mac. Dougall and presented Miss Miller and her fiancee with a miscellaneous shower. A group of Thames Road friends gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Allison to honor Miss Miller with a shower. Redmond, former Hensall boy, was honored in Niagara Falls recently when the degree of Doctor of Theology was conferred on him by Dr. George K. Nearton, director of Central School of Religion. Dr. Redmond, son of Charles Redmond, began his education in S.S. No. 3, Hay Township. Later he entered Albert College, Belleville, where he prepared for university. The sec­ retary-treasurer gave the finan­ cial report for 1952 and stated the receipts were $1,854.08 and expenditures $1,670.44, leaving a net gain of $183,67 for the year. The following officers were appointed: Chairman, George Armstrong; secretary-treasurer, J, A. Paterson. Motions were carried to the effect that the Ladies Auxiliary to the Legioii be paid the sum of $1S for cleaning the rink for the bingos, and that a charge ,of $15 per day or night be made for the rink and parties renting it be responsible for cleaning the rink. A native of England he came to Canada at the age of six years and has spent most of his life in Green- wav, Clandeboye and Hensall districts, He was a member of Hensall United Church and of Hensall L.O.L. Mrs. Purdy, the former May McPherson, passed away in March, 193 2. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Bert Selves (Mabel), one son, Len Purdy, of Hensall, -and two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Flaght, Pontiac, Mich., and Mrs. Susan Cullis, Sarnia. The body rested ■at the Bonthron Funeral Homt, Hensall, where public services were held Monday at 2 p.m. con­ ducted by the Rev. W. J. Rog­ ers. Interment was made in Hensall Union Cemetery.
