Mid-Town Cleaners Holds Official Opening This Weekend The door of Mid-Town Clean­ ers, 426 William Street, Exeter, will be open wide < this Friday night and all day Saturday to invite the public to inspect the newest and most modern clean­ ing “plant in Southwestern On­ tario. The day will mark the official opening of Mid-Town Cleaners— Exeter’s newest industry, owned and operated by two young Exe­ ter businessmen. It will be ' Open House” in the plants and the residents of the community will be able to dis­ cover how a modern cleaning plant operates. Congratulations Mid-Town Cleaners tour their spanking new build­ ing and watch their modern cleaning machinery in operation. “We’d like the people to see just how we clean their clothes and why we think our system is tops,” say the proprietors. There’ll be refreshments, too, to make the visit a pleasant one. On hand to assist the proprie­ tors with the conducting of tours through the plant and to explain the efficient cleaning process, will be experts in the dry cleaning field. These include Lloyd Yager, of Simcoe, and Pat Patterson, of Toronto, repre­ sentatives of Canadian Hoffman Machinery Company, producers of the automatic cleaning. To these leaders in the dry cleaning industry, Mid-Town Cleaners represents the ideal combination of modern building, modern machinery and modern processing. They are enthusias­ tic about Exeter’s newest in­ dustry. Top-Notch Cleaning Visitors to the plant will see why Mid-Town Cleaners is estab­ lishing a reputation for top-notch dry cleaning. When they learned they could offer the public genuine’ “odor­ less” cleaning and free pickup and delivery, it didn’t take them long to launch the enterprise. Only seven weeks passed, from the time they first talked about the venture until they started operation in their new plant. Irv Is Older Irv Armstrong, the eldest, is 27. He married the former Lois Sweitzer and they live on Senior Street, Exeter. Irv received his education at Exetei’ Public and High Schools and the Beal Technical School, London. Before returning to Exe­ ter, he worked in several indus­ trial plants in London. Nine years ago he joined the local firm of Hopper-Hockey,, a f u r n i t u r e store aud. funeral home. He was awarded his em­ balmer’s licence in 1947 and is still qualified to engage in this profession. Bud Learns Trade Bud Preszcator is 24 years old, married to the former Alma Ryckman, They and their three- year-old daughter, Penny, live in an apartment on Exeter’s main street. Bud went to Exeter Public and High Schools before starting work at Canadian Canners. Later he worked at a local garage and did a stint of painting before entering the dry cleaning busi­ ness. I-Ie spent seven years learn­ ing the trade before venturing out with Irv in Mid-Town. On the staff at Mid-Town Cleaners are Blanche Sim, an Exeter housewife, who is re­ ceptionist; Stewart Moffat, for­ merly of Tpronto, an experienced presser; and Bud’s Wife, Alma, who also presses. Bud handles the cleaning operation, the spotting and does some pressing. Irv pickup and delivery District Agents To give service to districts, Mid-Town have depots in the villages. The agents are: Zurich, Thiel’s Men’s Wear; Hensall, Clark and Fuss Electric; Centralia, Hons- berger’s General Store; Lucan, Ron Westman’s Canadian Auto Stores. In addition, Mid-Town offers pickup and delivery service at “Huron Park”, R.C.A.F. Cen­ tralia’s housing area, and has several depots inside the Station itself.
