J Moores Wednesday afternoon with nearly 40 in attendance. The meeting was in charge of Mrs. Ken Duncan, vice-president of the W.A., and opened with prayer by Mrs. Duncan and Scripture reading by Mrs. Wil­ liam Elford. A reading, “Spirit of the New Year” was given by Mrs. Ken Duncan. The minutes of the W.A. were read and roil calls of the W.A. and W.M.S. were answered by the paying of fees. The topic on Africa was given by Mrs. Moores, who was also in charge of the installation ser­ vice of the W.M.S. officers. Mrs. William Rohde was in charge of the program which consisted of a reading, “Rock of Ages” by Mrs. William Ballantyne, a vocal duet by Mrs. William Cann and Mrs. Archie Morgan and a read­ ing by Mrs. Edwin Miller. He says unpaid bills from 1951 council amount­ ed to $13,390.81. This is not correct. Let him list the unpaid accounts, their amounts etc. He also says in January 1951 the unpaid bills totalled $1,494.18 and in another line he says in 1951 there was only $506.94. Library Program The Kirkton Public Library sponsored a very fine program in Kirkton Aberdeen Hall Wed­ nesday night, January 7, to a crowded house. Reeve John Stephens was chairman. The pro­ gram was provided by pupils from Mt. Pleasant, Salem, Fourth Line, Anderson, plugtown, Woodham and Kirkton Public Schools. The male quartette from Woodham and the Paul brothers and Shirley also gave very fine numbers. The proceeds of the evening amounted to $75. The school pupils were all treated to ice cream, orange-ade and cookies.
