OBITUARY.
JOHN TAYLOR.
Oue of the largest funerals which
has entered Wingham cemetery was
that of the late John Taylor, of Zet

Sunday afternoon. Mr. Taylor, who
was in his 80th year, was one of the
earliest settlers and one of the most
widely known and highly respected
residents of Wawanosh Township, to
which place he came from Cook sville
in 1855, coming previously from
County Monnoch, Ireland.
In October, 1849, he was married
to Miss Eliza Margaret Taggart, at
Hamilton and for 58 years they shared
each other’s company, and eight years
ago celebrated their golden wedding
anniversary. To them were born
three sons and five daughters being:—

Taylor, of Wingh-un; Mrs. McAndlish
of Nelson, B.C.; Mrs. A. Fraelick and
Mrs Wm. Gray, of Wingham ; Miss
Fannie Taylor, of Winnipeg, and Lil
lian and Bert, at home.
Deceased had been ill for several
months and gradually weakened till
Friday last, when death relieved his
sufferings. The funeral services at tbe
house and grave were conducted by
Rev. Mr. Boyle, rector of Wingham
Episcopal church, of which he was an
attendant. The pall bearers were :—
Messrs John Haigh, G. H. Douglas,
W. J. Douglas, R. T. Douglas, G Lees
and W. J. A. McGregor, of Lucknow.
Among those from Lucknow to
attend the funeral were-.-Mrs. G. Dou

glas, Misses Annie, Jessie, Jean, Dor
othy and Jean Douglas, the a Misses
Jessie and Jean Lees., and Mr. A Mc

in the funeral procession.
Mr. Taylor took no active part in
municipal or political matters, but
was a supporter of the Conservative
party. For many years he was a
prominent member of the Orange Or
der and in earlier years was known as
one of the best fifers in the country.
Mr. Taylor was an uncle to Mrs.
George Douglas, Lucknow, and Mr.
John Haigh, 6th con., Kinloss. Those
from a distance to attend the funeral
were Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Taylor,
of Clifford, Mrs. McAndlish and Mas
