NEWS
FROM AUBURN
Cleaning out the basement is at the
top of everyone’s list this week in
preparation for the village-wide
yard sale scheduled for Saturday,
May 7. Festivities begin at 8
a.m. with the opening of the
streets to those looking for a good
deal.
The Auburn Lions will be hosting
their final breakfast of the season
that morning, as is tradition.
Breakfast begins at 8 a.m. and is $6
per person. Maple syrup for the
pancakes is being supplied by
Robinson’s Maple Syrup. Breakfast
will be served until noon and the
proceeds will go to the Children’s
Miracle Network.
Also keep an eye out for the
Auburn Playground Committee’s
bake table at the end of the Hamp’s
driveway on Goderich Street.
Several of the children from the
village will be selling baked goods
to raise funds for the playground in
Auburn. Hopefully the weather co-
operates, but if needed the table will
be moved across the street to
Dorothy and Jim Schneider’s front
porch.
The Auburn Missionary Church
will be hosting a Home and Garden
show this weekend on Friday
evening from 4 to 8 p.m. and on
Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Many
vendors will be attending to show off
their wares and benefit the
Huron County HIV/AIDS
Network for client support and
education.
If you have friends who have little
ones, let them know that the Auburn
Playground Committee will be
throwing a “Spring Fling” on
Saturday, May 14 from 6:30 p.m. to
8 p.m. for families with children
ages 12 and under. Put on your best
fancy dress or suit and come to the
junior spring formal. Admission is
$10 per family and J.C. Coutts will
be returning to provide the music. If
it turns out anything like the family
halloween dance, it will be a great
time.

PEOPLE AROUND
AUBURN
On April 30 at approximately 1:45
a.m., Huron OPP officers were
patrolling in Central Huron when
they observed a vehicle swerving
within its lane. After a period of time
following the vehicle, the officers
stopped the driver to check on their
sobriety.
Upon speaking to the driver, the
officers determined that the driver
had been consuming alcohol. The
demand for a roadside sample of
breath was read to the driver and
he complied by providing a
breath sample. The result of the
test was a fail and the driver
was arrested and taken back to
the Huron OPP detachment
where he met with a qualified
intoxilizer technician. After
providing two more samples of his
breath, the driver was facing
charges.
Darrell Crocker, 25, of Goderich
will be answering to one count of
Drive Motor Vehicle with Over 80
Milligrams of Alcohol and one count
of Breach Probation in the Ontario
Court of Justice in Goderich on
June 6.
