KERR. In memory of Joe Kerr,
January 9, 1952 - May 7, 2007,
loving husband, caring father and
cherished grandpa.
Spring is upon us your tulips are
blooming and we are reminded of
the day you were taken from our
lives. No goodbyes were spoken just
one loving heart stopped beating,
two strong hands stopped working,
and one husband, dad, and grandpa
stopped living.
We are left with our memories of
the time we shared with you. We
pass on your lessons and stories you
left behind with us. We wish the
days with you did not go by so fast
and you could enjoy your grandchild
grow. They talk about their grandpa
often and they know he is watching
in heaven. They wish grandpa could
come down soon.
– Sadly missed by your family:
Dolores, Kara, Shawn, Tory Lynn,
Taylor, Cheryl, Beau, Allison, Jack,
Rob, and Jess. 18-1

On April 29 at approximately 9
p.m., Huron OPP officers were at a
gas station in Goderich when they
observed a vehicle with a cracked
windshield. The officers went to
speak to the driver and while doing
so, realized that the man had been
drinking alcohol. One officer read a
demand that the driver provide a
sample of his breath into the
roadside Alcotest. The driver
complied and failed his test. The
male was arrested for Drive with
Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol and
was transported to the Huron OPP
detachment where he met with a
qualified intoxilizer technician. The
driver provided two more samples
of his breath and the readings
confirmed a blood alcohol level
which was above the legal limit.
As a result of the investigation,
Paul Hanna, 64, of North Huron was
charged with one count of Drive
with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol.

Sometime between 10 p.m. on
May 1 and 1 a.m. on May 2 suspects
entered the backyard of a residence
on Victoria Street in Goderich.
While on the property, the suspects
set off fireworks in the backyard.
Some time later, a witness called
in a fire in the backyard of the
residence. The Goderich Fire
Department attended and the fire
was put out.
This situation could have turned
deadly if the fire had continued. A
group of youth was walking away
from the involved address as the fire
department were heading to the fire.
Anyone with information should
immediately contact the Huron OPP
at 1-888-310-1122 or (519) 524-

A tour with purpose
Local MPP Carol Mitchell showed Health Minister Deb Matthews around the Wingham
Hospital with a purpose last week. Mitchell outlined the need for new and improved equipment
throughout the hospital. Matthews, second from left, and Mitchell, third from left, posed with
staff at the hospital after both speaking to the importance of keeping staff equipped with the
best tools available. Matthews stated that she could not promise any funding, but stated that
several different plans for upgrades were on the table, and that Wingham was among them.
