CORA BROUGHTONCora Broughton of Monkton,passed away peacefully at Listowel
Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, Dec.
13, 2011. She was 84.
Cora was a member of Monkton
United Church and enjoyed sewing,
quilting, crocheting and knitting, but
most of all enjoyed spending time
with her grandchildren.
She was the beloved wife of the
late George Broughton who
predeceased her in 1988. Cora was
the loving mother of Sharon
Pengelly of Goderich and friend Ken
McLaughlin, Marion Colquhoun of
Listowel and friend Peter Hare,
Betty Lou and Ross Rennick of
Monkton and Brenda and Bill
Burkholder of Blyth. She was the
special grandma of Judy, Donald,
Nancy, Joey, Tammy, Vicki, Kevin,
Gary, Sandra, Angela, Heather, Tina,
Shane, Cory, Chad, 31 great-
grandchildren and three great-great-
grandchildren. Cora was the sister of
Mike and Shirley Hulley of
Kingston, sister-in-law of Margaret
Little of Waterloo, Lois and Bob
Boyd-Mueller, Jean and RayBuchanan, all of Monkton. She willbe fondly remembered by her dear
friend Marg Bartja of Monkton and
many nieces and nephews.
Cora was predeceased by her
parents Gordon and Emma (Ward)
Hulley, son Bob Broughton, sons-in-
law Donald Pengelly and Wayne
Colquhoun, brothers Jack and his
wife Margaret Hulley, Jim and his
wife Myrtle Hulley, sisters Greta
and her husband Walter Ward and
Tillie and her husband Ross Engel.
Cora’s family invited relatives and
friends to share their memories at
the Brenneman Funeral Home,
Atwood on Thursday, Dec. 15. The
funeral service to celebrate her life
was held at Monkton United Church
on Friday, Dec. 16. Interment was in
Elma Centre Cemetery, Atwood.
As expressions of sympathy,
memorial donations to the Lung
Association, Heart and Stroke
Foundation or a charity of one’s
choice would be appreciated by the
