THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY, DECEMBER 22, 2011.Brussels students plan their North Pole trips Happy Holidays Brussels Public School’s Grade 1 class had some great ideas to share with The Citizen as to how they would get to the North Pole to find the best place to play in the snow recently. (Denny Scott photo) Brussels Public School’s Grade 1 class has some unique ideas about how they would get to the North Pole if they had to. Whether it’s by plane, sled (dog or other) or by some mystical means, each student had their own take on how they would get there and what stops they would make in between. Here are their plans if they ever need to visit the roof of the world: “I would use a dog sled and a plane to get to the North Pole. First I would use the dog sled to get to the north of Canada, then get on a plane and cross the ocean and then dog sled the rest of the way. I would use snow dogs for my sled.” Hannah “I would use a sleigh powered by magic. I would either buy one or borrow Santa Claus’s sleigh and use his reindeer. I’d just fly straight to the North Pole from my house.” Lana “I would use a sled, like Santa’s, but I wouldn’t fly it. I would use magic to freeze all the water between Brussels and the North Pole and use horses and reindeers to pull me across it.” Tyson “I would go to the United States and buy a magic sled from a magic store. We don’t have those kinds of stores in Canada. Then I would get my mom to use her magic powers to control the sled because she has magic sled powers.” Chloe “I would go by plane. I would get on a jet at the Toronto airport, and then, when I got near the North Pole, I would use a dog sled to go the rest of the way because dogs can run really fast.” Jazlyn “I would rent a big airplane and fly from Toronto. I would fly it myself because other pilots might not want to land close to the North Pole, but I would land as close as I could and then use a miniature snowmobile to get the rest of the way.” Lucas “I would take a plane from Toronto and land it south of the North Pole. Then I would use snowshoes to get me the rest of the way there.” Malaikum “I would take a plane from the Wingham to an airport near the North Pole, then I would get another plane to fly me right over top of the North Pole so I could sky dive out of the plane and land right on the North Pole.” Lola “I would take a big plane from Toronto and then use a van to drive right to the North Pole.” Madison “I would get in a car and have someone drive me to the airport in Happy Holidays from John, Merilyn, Jennifer, Michael and Staff MM cc DD oo nn aa ll dd HH oo mm ee HH aa rr dd ww aa rr ee aa nn dd BB uu ii ll dd ii nn gg CC ee nn tt rr ee We've Got Your Lumber" Brussels 519-887-6277 From our home to yours we wish everyone a wonderful Christmas and a healthy & prosperous New Year! from the management & staff of Hwy. 86, Wingham 519-357-3460 1-888-495-8885 We thank you for your patronage and look forward to seeing you again soon. 519-527-0761 Bert & Carol Reinink & family 43079 Hullett-McKillop Rd.
