leader and concert director from
2003 to 2010; Morag Watt the
secretary at the school who takes
care of the stage, prints the program
and organizes the means by which
the students can take donations and
of course all the staff and teachers
involved.
“If it weren’t for the teachers, it
simply wouldn’t happen,” she said.
“They borrow from other schools,
get theatre supplies from the Blyth
Festival and local churches and just
put in so much time.
“Their creativity really fuels the
whole thing,” she said. “They’re
always thinking about how to do
things better, or with fewer props.”
Cronin said there was one
particular time when Harrison
realized that there would be a
problem with using the grand piano
at the Blyth Memorial Hall due to
the presence it has.
“The size of the piano was just too
much,” She said. “Harrison
suggested we get an electric
keyboard and it worked great. Those
kinds of ideas are what made the
plays work.”
The plays continued with choirs,
themes and musical numbers untilaround 2000 according to Cronin.
“The mass choir came to an end
when were able to get canned
Christmas concerts,” she said. “It
made it so much easier to plan. The
teachers had to pick a play and workin all the classes, but it was so
simplified.”
She said that often the Junior and
Senior Kindergarten classes would
