Blyth during the election earlier this
year, Thompson, a Belgrave-areanative, said she found the people ofBlyth to be “very welcoming” andpleasant.
“It’s important for me saying
‘rural Ontario matters’ so we
have to walk the talk as well,” she
said.
Thompson said it’s important toher that she remains a supporter ofHuron-Bruce’s larger areas, as well as the smaller corners of the
riding.
“I want to be very supportive of
the villages and towns in the riding,”
she said.

1986. He has served seven terms as
board chair, including his current
term.
Newest trustee Amy Cronin, who
joined the HPCDSB after the 2010
election, was acclaimed as vice-
chair of the board.
“It’s always really important to me
that kids are getting the spiritual
direction they need and top-notch
education in Ontario,” she said after
the meeting.
Trustee Jim McDade was
acclaimed as chair of the education
committee, while Ron Marcy will
head the management committee.
Mike Miller will chair the personnel
committee and serve on the Special
Education Advisory Committee.
Murray and Marcy agreed to sit on
the audit committee for another
year.
At the Dec. 5 meeting, the board
also approved the appointment of
Donnelly and Murphy as board
solicitors and the appointment of
BDO Dunwoody as board auditors.

Dowson named as the county’s
alternate representative.
MacLellan, Grace and Vincent
will represent the county on the
Maple Tree Housing Corporation
with Robertson serving as the
alternate. Rintoul and Shewfelt
will serve on the Natural
Heritage Plan Advisory Board
while Hessel and Robertson
will serve on the Huron
Sustainability Plan Steering
Committee.
Jewitt and Klopp will serve the
term on Local Immigration
Partnership while Grace and
MacLellan will represent the
county on the Huron Heritage
Fund. Grace will serve on the
Huron Perth Children’s Aid Soc-
iety.
After all representatives were
named, the bylaw was adopted and
councillors retired to The
Candlelight Restaurant in Goderich
for MacLellan’s official reception
and banquet.
